I am so disappointed in the Great American Cookie Company at the Outlet Shoppes at Atlanta. I planned a ninth birthday party for my daughter and six of her friends at the Outlets to have a mall scavenger hunt and then celebrate with cookie cake at the food court. I ordered the cookie five days in advance of the event. We arrived at the outlets, completed the scavenger hunt and then, went to get the cookie cake. I arrived at the door with a handwritten note that simply said "closed for unexpected repairs". I did not receive a phone call, email or any notification that the store had suddenly closed. I was charged for the cookie cake at the time I placed the order. Yet, I was not notified at any time that they would not be able to fulfil the order. I had to call the store the next day to request a refund. While I understand that things like this happen, I do NOT understand why I was not notified. I was not able to make any last minute arrangements without any prior notice. This is extremely disappointing to me. The store has agreed to refund the money, but only said that they were just really dealing with a lot because their oven broke. I call back around 5 as I’m on my way to pick up the cake when the manager (Ambria I believe her name was) tells me there is no cake and they will not be able to make one since it is too close to closing time (I called another location immediately after in which they had the cake done within the hour). She said I had to pay for the cake in advance for them to start making it and the lady that originally took my order is the owner’s daughter and has made the mistake of not telling the customer this several times before. I ordered a birthday cake the month before from the same location where I paid in store after the cake was done. On this occasion, I observed three young men behind the counter engaging in conversations that I found to be unprofessional and inappropriate, particularly in their discussion of other customers and their interactions with women. After waiting for over five minutes, I was eventually addressed by one of the individuals, who appeared dismissive. I chose to decline service and exit the store. This is not an isolated incident, as I have encountered similar issues when only young men are present. I am concerned about the quality of service and the conduct of some employees.
