We frequent all the Taqueria Tsunami locations and we love the food. The experience is usually good, with good quality food and friendly service.
However, our last visit at the Woodstock Taqueria Tsunami on Friday July 3 was quite frustrating. We called the order in, and after specifying our order, the person taking our order fussed at us when calling the order in telling us that we were supposed to specify that it was curbside pickup before she started taking our order for some reason. Never heard that before. So we pay over the phone and we call when we arrive, and she tells us to pull into a place that is supposed to have a sign that says "Curbside Pickup 2" So we drive up and down the area and even to the other side of the mall, and its nowhere to be found. We call back, and same person (bartender) frustratingly told us that we "cant miss it" "its where the trucks pull in" "theres a sign" its "right next to Tommy Hilfiger". And we just could not find where to pull up. So we call back a third time reconfirming everything she said and of course same result. So I told her I would come inside but I would like someone to show me where this parking spot is, so we know for next time, and she agreed. We go inside and we get our food and we even tipped just because we want to support our local businesses, but the bartender refused to show me where it was we were supposed to park. She said they were too busy and she could not leave the bar. She even went so far as to tell me that she should not have even offered curbside pickup because they were so busy. So I asked if she could get someone else to show me. She said everyone was busy and no one could help. Mind you, at this very moment there are no less than 6 servers standing at the host stand not looking busy at all. I find it ridiculous that the time it would have taken to bring the food out had I magically found this nonexistent spot was now not available since I already came inside. She finally gets the hostess to reluctantly show me where this spot is. Only problem is, she had no idea where it was either and she has never once run food out before. So I showed her where the area we were told to go was with no signs and asked her to please make sure to let management know that there is no way for customers to know where to park and wait.
All we wanted was to know where to wait. The business should know how to direct customers to the waiting area for curbside pickup, and not be so reluctant to offer this service during a pandemic. The people they have that bring the food should be able to show the customers where to park and they could not...
Read moreWoodstock location. We have been eating here for years and I’ve never had a bad experience until Saturday. I ordered the Shanghai shrimp salad with grilled shrimp cooked extra extra well. The shrimp were actually cooked perfectly for me which I was happy about however the salad was not at all what was described on the menu and what I had previously had several times before. It was supposed to have tomatoes, edamame, avocado, roasted poblano, peppers, and corn, cilantro, and top with rice noodles. My salad consisted of Romaine lettuce, shrimp, and Avocado. When I asked about the remaining toppings, especially the rice noodles, our server said oh we are out of that. Don’t you think you should’ve told me before I placed the order or let me know that the rice noodles were out and I would’ve ordered something else before it was brought to the table?? She did offer to bring me something else, but by that time, it was too late and the rest of my party would’ve been finished with their meal. Everything else was good. That was just very, very disappointing to receive basically lettuce and shrimp for $13. Should I have told the manager, yes, but it was hard enough to even get our server to come back to the table to check on us and I never saw a manager walking around anyway which is odd because I usually do see them on the floor. Will we be back? Yes, as it has been consistently good on previous visits. Just not this...
Read moreFirst visit yesterday Wednesday June 4th, 2025 around noon with a friend. We were quickly greeted and seated outside by Keilani, our server, very pleasant and professional. You can either sit inside or outside, the outside area is nice with foot traffic shoppers walking by.
We ordered an appetizer of the Mini Poke Tacos, they’re made of tuna, some soy sesame sauce, spicy mayo and cilantro, very organic and clean tasting.
For an entree I had the Tsunami All American Bowl which was rice with beef, grilled onions and mushrooms, soy sesame vinaigrette topped with a fried egg. This was really good, the steak was tender and seasoned perfectly and all the ingredients blended wonderfully. I’m a steak and potatoes kind of guy so I could have eaten 2 of these bowls, but for a moderate eater it’s very filling.
My friend had the Aloha Taco which she loved.
Overall great experience. The restaurant is located in an outdoor mall/plaza with plenty of seating and the atmosphere is excellent, especially if you like eating outdoors in a nice environment.
Prices are very in line with the food and we had no complaints.
Plenty of parking at the mall and tons of outlet stores to shop at the plaza....
