I just left this store about an hour ago, and I felt racially profiled. An off-duty police officer stationed by the front door seemed to follow me throughout the store.
The first incident occurred when a woman who looked like she was in management startled me while she was putting something away next to the item I was viewing. I laughed it off, but she was very cold. Shortly after, she and the officer, who had been near the door, started chatting about their holiday plans right next to me.
To see if he would follow me, I intentionally left that area and moved to the opposite side of the store. Sure enough, he did. As he cautiously turned into the aisle and found me in the northeast corner, I approached him and introduced myself. I had reached my limit. His response was polite, and we chatted for a moment. I found myself trying to convince him that I was harmless. Why should I feel this way while simply visiting a store to spend my money? The truth is, I shouldn’t.

I was told Hallmark was putting in a new computer system and they were starting to get new stock. I was there on the first Saturday in December but there was still not much stock, the place was a mess, and several of the displays were covered in plastic with signs indicating the items on those shelves were not for sale. From the moment i entered I was surrounded by an armed police officer. He makes you extremely uncomfortable.
