I had briefly lived in Wyoming, MI, a failed attempt at a new life, when I discovered Daily Deals. I shopped there a few times and found amazing deals and excellent service. But nothing compared to the experience I had two days before I decided to return to Texas. I was out of work, on my last couple of dollars and had mouths to feed. I was just hoping to get enough food to last until we got back to our state. Granted, stretching 13 bucks on a road trip and two extra days was a challenge. (Its all I had left after calculating the cost of gas for our straight through 22 hr non-stop journey)
I had settled on some items that they were selling and figured Iād ration it and weād be fine.
And thatās when I came to the check out and was .32 cents short. I asked the cashier to put the can of sauce up and she pulled out some money from her back pocket and paid for it.
Iām not proud to say that this small gesture completely humbled me. I lost it. Right there. Tears and all and I couldnāt even get out a āthank youā. And then this angel of a cashier came around and gave me a hug and asked me if there was anything else. I denied it and shook my head and she calmly and tenderly told me that itās okay to ask, and so I choked out ābreadā. The next moment sheās walking with me through the store, literally telling me to pull bread, eggs, extra meat and even some cheese, she walks me to the register and pays for it, an extra 16 dollars of food (at Daily Deals thatās quite a bit) and squeezes my hand. She tells me āToday is my birthday and helping you was my greatest gift.ā
The other cashier on duty gave me a hug and slipped me a five dollar bill so I could āget a hot coffeeā and to smile. These two women, unknowingly saved me. Not in the I-was-going-to-kill-myself way, but in spirit. At this point in my life I was broken. All but given up and at the end of my rope. I didnāt know how to get to through the next moment much less the near future.
That was in May of 2018. Itās almost the end of the year and that last few months have been a whirlwind of getting my life back on track and rising up. But I donāt think I could have gotten to the place I am now without the helping and loving hands I received that day.
I wish I could remember her name, she said it to me as I was crying my heart out over .32 cents. But trust me when I say the employees at this store care. This company cares. And if there were some down here in Houston, I would be a regular patron.
Thank you, kind souls, for reminding me of Godās plans and his grace. He worked through you to help one of his lost flock that day. And I am eternally...
Read moreYes, there are genuine deals, and on some items the price will be half of what you see at grocery stores. So, on that point this store deserves a 5 star rating. They only get a 2 on selection and variety with this reviewer, because no effort seems to be made by buyers to hunt for deals outside of a predictable and narrow selection of wholesale sources . Way too many items of one category week after week. Some weeks the whole store seems to be just candy bars, the entire freezer section ¾ meat, nothing else. So, to sum up: yes, there are good deals, but, selection is narrow. Buyers seem myopic. Dairy - milk, cheese , etc... NOT a good buy here, tho they do get good occasional great bulk buys. Eggs are NOT a good buy. OJ, not a good buy. Bread - no... Infrequent juice deals ARE a bargain, as is yogurt, cold cereal, pizza, select frozen desserts... A hit one week, followed by nothing the next 2 weeks makes this store a 50/50 proposition. If you live near one, stop in once a week. If not, don't make a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI enjoy coming to Daily Deals. They specialize in carrying short-coded products, or produce that does not quite match the quality standard of the big-box grocery stores (as a result, sometimes it is a bit of a hit or miss). They have a rewards program which is nice. Quite often I get to save $2 off of my grocery bill with each visit. I was always hesitant to visit because I thought they were kind of like a Save A Lot, but they are nothing like that, and way better price-wise. They offer more variety than some of the smaller food outlet types of locations, but I did notice they have less Gluten-Free options. To help a customer get groceries in one stop, they carry bread, dairy and other misc. products that are common across households. These items are not necessarily discounted or the lowest price, but I appreciate that they are trying to expand...
