Our Lady of Piat is a revered Marian image in the Philippines, specifically enshrined in Piat, Cagayan. Known as the "Black Virgin Mary", she is one of the most venerated images of the Blessed Virgin in the country and holds the title "Queen of the Valley", referring to the Cagayan Valley region.
History and Significance
The image was originally brought to the Philippines by Dominican friars from Macao in 1604.
It was first placed in Lallo, Cagayan, then transferred to Piat in 1622 due to its growing devotion.
Our Lady of Piat is known for miraculous healings and intercessions, drawing thousands of devotees yearly.
Our Lady of Piat Basilica Minore
The image is housed in the Basilica Minore of Our Lady of Piat, which was elevated to a minor basilica status in 1997.
The church is a major pilgrimage site and is particularly crowded every July 2, the feast day of Our Lady of Piat.
Miracles and Devotion
Numerous miracles have been attributed to her intercession, including healings and answered prayers.
The devotion continues to grow, and Piat remains a pilgrimage center in Northern Luzon.

A beautiful church and pilgrimage site that has increasingly been ruined by the "touristification" of the grounds. Arbitrary rules being enforced by people not even associated with the church itself keeping people from even entering the grounds all in an effort to make even more money by directing visitors to the hordes of sellers right at the unguarded gate. A church should not be a tourist trap money making scheme. But that is what Our Lady of Piat has become.
The arbitrary rules penalizing the faithful are also quite discriminatory in nature and seems to have been implemented by people who are more interested in only welcoming a certain "class" of people (read: those well off and with money) rather than the everyday Filipino faithful merely wanting to pray and reflect in the presence of the Apo Baket image.
Really disappointing. And most will probably be better off praying and honoring your faith at home in your own time rather than at this once-amazing church-turned-tourist trap.

This is a famous basilica in the Region (2) and in the Philippines. This church has a significant part for the religion of Roman Catholicism sector.
Thumbs up for the complete facility.

Unknown to most people of Cagayan, pawa has a Chinese origin. The rootword of pawa is pau (Chinese: 包; pinyin: bāo) which means "to wrap". These buns are collectively called in Chinese as bāozi (包子) or simply pau by most Filipino-Chinese.
Aside from the products of Cagayan most especially Tuguegarao City like Ybanag Longanisa, Chicharabao, Pancit Batil Patong, Alcala Milk Candy, Piat holds another heavenly gem along its church grounds, the PAWA. The bite-sized snack is made from steamed glutinous rice filled with sweetened grounded peanuts. We always purchase pawa which are readily available on the streets near Piat Church.
It was really a pleasure eating pawa and it will always be one of the reasons for me to revisit Piat.

Just 40+ minutes from Tuguegarao City via van or personal transport.
There are a lot of people going on Sunday to hear mass.
Dont wear shorts for men, ladies shouldnt wear sleeveless. The guards are strict on this.
Suggest to hear mass early morning as it can get really hot during the day.
The black madonna image is very beautiful and her looks stands-out on its gold/white dress regalia.
There is line to touch her (panyo/cloth) at the back of the altar.
Lot of stores sell images, souvenirs and native kakanins outside (pawa, palitao, banana bread).

The place is very solemn and calm. The church was built during the spanish era, and you will feel the ambiance of old times.
They have a huge CR, a station of the cross garden, a wedding chapel, and parking is on the outside of the vicinity.
You will also like the mini store outside where you can buy different pasalubong and souvenirs.
It is PWD friendly.

Late review - visit date: Feb2017. Magapit Suspension bridge is best visited when the sun is still up. Unfortunately we arrived the area at night due to some delays during our North Loop DIY tour hence my photos of this bridge did not show how good it is when seen with our eyes. If I am not mistaken this is the only suspension bridge in the Philippines so this landmark is also worth a visit to say the least.

The Magapit Bridge is suspension bridge that opened in 1978 to connect the east and west sides of the Cagayan River in the province of Cagayan. It is located in Magapit, Lal-lo, Cagayan, Philippines. The bridge was also named by the locals as the "Golden Gate of Cagayan". This bridge is one of the only two bridges in the province that runs across the mighty waterway of the Cagayan River.

I just love the idea of how the bridge was created...it reminds me of the United States' San Francisco Bridge...
I wish people from the provincial Government or DPWH to restore its original color as its rusty to look already in some parts...
I highly suggest to paint it with some kind of stunning to look at as it has already have that kind of wow factor..

Local government should improve and make this a destination. I walked early morning. Pedestrian path not visible from a distant. Perhaps a park near the bridge and more organized shops. Not that much to do nearby. I was looking for the story behind the bridge and great river. Nothing found when i walked. Dangerous vehicles stopping in the middle of bridge.

A breathtaking view of Cagayan. This calvary hills top is one of a kind scenic destinations to visit. Catholic or not, anyone can enjoy the picturesque grassland, life-size stations of the cross, and the old church of Iguig at the entrance. I hope this beautiful place can be maintained properly all year round to keep its cleanliness, and be promoted for tourism to increase its resource upkeep and therefore, restore some of its aging monuments.

Its a shame there was something happening inside while visiting so i didn't get to have a good look around but outside was stunning with great weather to suit, large grounds well maintained, maybe better to visit through the week if possible. Would definitely go back if in the area again.

This is a very scenic park located on a hill top right beside the historic and beautiful Iguig Church. Has a breathtaking view of the sunset. However, some of the life-size monuments have not been well-maintained through the years, missing some parts or limbs.

Big place. Nice old church. Probably very good view, but I can’t confirm since it was raining during our visit there. It is worth to visit the old Spanish well that is close to the entrance.

Already shared on this, but is a great landmark to visit. The church is crumbling and in need of repair/TLC, but it makes a great stop for historical sites local to the area.
