Rashomon Sushi & Bar — Restaurant in Autonomous City of Buenos Aires

So, the space is fine, it’s nicely designed. Depending on volume level, I might like the downstairs bar more - from pictures it looks more elegant. Service was… pleasant. Nothing more than that. The sushi is very simple. I’m all for classic, without creative additions, but basic touches, like brushing the fish with a touch of taré are missing, the fish is just on its own (no wasabi) either, except on the side. Fuimos a cenar ayer y la opinión generalizada es que es un lugar de contrastes. Puntúo con 4 estrellas porque llevan poco tiempo abiertos pero hay varios puntos de mejora. Vaya por delante que el servicio fue extraordinariamente atento y nos invitaron a un postre, pero no puedo dejar de dar feedback sobre algunos puntos. a) Lo primero que nos sorprendió fue la falta de iluminación directa sobre la mesa, que crea una atmósfera impersonal y le quita protagonismo a unos platos que son coloridos y vistosos. b) Por contra hay un foco de alta potencial que desde fuera del establecimiento enfoca directamente a los comensales. c) Otra curiosidad es la falta de algún tipo de mantel o soporte para los platos y cubiertos: las mesas son de mármol y resultan un poco antihigiénico que los cubiertos se apoyen directamente sobre estas. d) Pedimos un menu largo, otro corto, un curri rojo y un udon. Todos los platos eran sabrosos pero el emplatado del curri era burdo y salió tibio. e) Por ultimo me sorprendió el tamaño del udon. Estos son los cinco puntos. A great Japanese cuisine addition to the area, we were thrilled to discover Rashomon. Service was very good, the quality of the products top notch and the ambiance very elegant and relaxing. Truly enjoyed it. They have a very nice bar in the basement with sake and whisky from Japan, Scotland and Ireland. Will definitely come back....
