La Posta — Restaurant in El Calafate

Don't fall for this tourist trap. The food was terrible, not seasoned at all and the meat was extremely overcooked to the point of being inedible. The service seemed good at the beginning but completely ignored us after serving the main course. Everything took forever, we didn't even get to order some more softdrinks or wine and were very thirsty. When we pointed out the dry and overcooked meat, there was not even one word of apology. Complimentary deserts where offered, but still no apology. The deserts were okay, but took more than half an hour to arrive, even though they had obviously been prepared in advance and just had to be taken out of the fridge, so the long wait seemed intentional. At that point, the staff was extremely rude and snarky and seemed hostile towards us. Shame on this establishment, who wants to seem fancy and high class, but this experience shows it is anything but that. This was one of the best meals we’ve had in Argentina so far. We came around 8 pm with no reservations, but I recommend coming earlier or making a reservation as some groups were turned away after us. We ordered the grilled lamb, lamb with hummus and mushrooms, roasted vegetables, and pumpkin potatoes. It was definitely way too much food for $40! The grilled lamb is great for 2 to share along with some sides. I loved the roasted veggies but not a big fan of the pumpkin. The grilled lamb was incredible, best I’ve ever eaten, just falling off the bone and very tender....

Went to celebrate my birthday. Good food! Everything I had from the menu was tasty, but not mind blowing. The cordero was my favorite. Least palatable thing was the service unfortunately. Really wanted to like this place but the table service really ruined it. I feel like I spent more time looking around for my waiter than enjoying the exaggeratedly spaced out dishes.
