Jeremy Button Gin Bar — Restaurant in Ushuaia

So we arrived to the bar and there was a DJ playing 80s and 90s records. That's plus because most bars dont do that, so it was very nice. The drinks were nothing special, I ordered a Mojito because wherever I go it is like the way I test a place, the mojito looked good but it tasted watery, lots of ice, not much flavour. I think they use frozen fruit for most of their drinks and that's one of the reasons of why their drinks have this bland flavour. Then I ordered Gin tonic with lemon and other with grapefruit. Same result. The drinks were not good, the idea is to be able to flavour the fruit but it wasn't the case. We ordered food. It is 2023 and no vegan burger or veggie options? One of our people had to order the only non-meat items and they werent good. We tried the "argenta" burger and it was nothing special. No seasoning, nothing out of the ordinary. The potatoes were just oversized and undercooked potato pieces. Terrible. I dont know why some bars keep pushing these terrible ways of putting potatoes with burgers, classic fries well done and well seasoned would be even better. The food was disappointing. Buenas, queridos lectores.

Dejo mi opinión porque, la verdad, tenía muchas y muy buenas expectativas del lugar. Pero algo sucedió.

Fui dos veces, ambas con mi novio. La primera vez llegamos tarde, tipo 23:30. Solo tomamos unos tragos y picamos unas rabas, porque no teníamos mucho tiempo. La segunda vez fuimos con ganas de probar algo más. Decidimos arrancar con rabas, ya que las habíamos probado antes y nos habían gustado. Pero esta vez estaban malísimas: muy duras, parecían de goma.

Pedimos que las cambiaran. La segunda tanda vino igual, pero preferimos no decir nada. Muy amablemente, una chica que trabaja ahí nos preguntó cómo estaban ahora y fuimos sinceros: seguían igual. Entonces nos ofreció no cobrarlas y pedir otra entrada, a lo cual accedimos. Nos recomendó bastoncitos de espinaca y muzza, y otros solo de muzza. Cumplieron.

Luego pedimos de plato principal unas bondiolas que venían en sándwich, con papas. No nos convencía mucho, pero decidimos probar. Nos pareció que falta variedad en el menú; es un tremendo lugar como para tener solo hamburguesas o comida chatarra como opción.

La bondiola era abundante y cumplía: estaba bastante saborizada, se sentía la barbacoa. Las papas venían con pimentón, lo que hacía que el plato resultara demasiado condimentado. A nuestro gusto, deberían avisar que las papas vienen así, ya que la bondiola también tiene mucho sabor.

La chica se acercó antes de que termináramos de cenar y nos preguntó qué tal estaba todo. Le dijimos que bien, pero aproveché para hacerle una sugerencia. Le comenté que en ningún lado de la carta decía que las papas estaban condimentadas, y que sería bueno aclararlo, ya que para alguien que no está acostumbrado al picante puede resultar demasiado.

Se lo tomó mal. Me dijo que las papas no tenían nada, pero que igual iba a consultar. Nunca volvió con una respuesta, ni afirmativa ni negativa.

Pedimos la cuenta y nos preguntaron si queríamos un descuento. Obviamente dijimos que no, porque nunca fue nuestra intención regatear nada por el mal servicio. Si el lugar considera que algo no estuvo bien, el descuento debe ofrecerse, no preguntarse.

Como me quedé con la duda, le consulté de qué era el descuento o por qué nos lo ofrecía. Nos explicó que el descuento era si íbamos a comer a otro restaurante (almorzar o cenar), y que con eso nos daban un descuento para volver a Jeremy. Raro.

Nos fuimos desconformes porque pagamos muy caro por algo que no valió la pena...

This is the first place we went after getting to town. The cocktails were amazing, and the food was phenomenal.

For drinks, we tried the martini dry, capriginha, special penicillin, and the expresso at the end of the world. All of the drinks were wonderful.

For food, we tried the smoked pork sandwich and the smoked burger. We had so much food that we didn’t eat until late the next day, but damn it was worth it.

At a certain point, a dj started playing music, and that was a great addition to the atmosphere.
