I cannot express enough how incredible European Cafe is! If I could rate it more stars I would! 💕 First pizzeria to open in Norwood and now family owned cafe since 1979, this place is a true icon. Their gnocchi is the best I've ever had, soft and fluffy and completely divine, and with the truffle mushroom sauce I was in absolute heaven. Same can be said about their pizza, cannelloni, calamari, and more! I need to come to enjoy the entire menu 🤣 This is what I had the pleasure of enjoying and everything was exceptional: ✨ Arancini ✨ Calamari fritti ✨ Cannelloni (special) ✨ Gnocchi tartufo ✨ Tartufo pizza bianche ✨ Gamberi pizza rosse ✨ Spaghetti bolognese ✨ Rucola ✨ Tiramisu ✨ Cioccolato ✨ Panna cotta ✨ Mango gelato sorbet ✨ Baked apple cheesecake ✨ Coconut sorbet with mango (special) ✨ Persian love cake (trial of their Valentine's Day special) ✨ Aperol spritzer ✨ Beer ✨ Espresso martini ✨ Lemon lime bitters ✨ Pineapple juice Everything is made in house and to the highest standard. You can absolutely taste the pride and passion in every dish. This is by far my instant favourite Italian place to dine 🥰 Be sure to enjoy their sensational desserts too, especially the tiramisu 👌

The European is an institution.... for some reason I hadn't been there in over 20 years. Tonight's food was delicious.... i ordered the Spaghetti Marinara which was just great. My daughter ordered the Ragu ----Joe the manager suggested she upgrade to the Gnocchi. That was wise council indeed... perfectly cooked, fluffy and amazing.... the Ragu was just like my Nonna used to make it. Great place to come for good honest, home cooked quality Italian food. It gets my highest rating. They also have a private room at the rear of the restaurant good for small family gatherings and parties

We have been visiting this gorgeous Italian restaurant for over 25yrs & in all these years has never disappointed in fact our only 16yr old daughter loves it so much its the only place she craves to go. The staff especially Joe & Amanda treat us like family. We love it so much & have highly recommended it to everyone. 10/10

We discovered the European Cafe about 10 years ago when we moved into the area. We have been here many many times over the years and I can honestly say that we have never had a meal that we haven't thoroughly enjoyed. The food is fantastic. I'm a fussy eater and can never just have a straight meal without taking out certain things and they are always happy to accommodate my dislikes. Last Saturday my husband felt like a bowl of spaghetti marinara so we went around 6pm and as it was a warm day we sat out the front on lovely clean chairs and table. The staff are always welcoming and helpful. My husband ordered the spaghetti marinara and I thought I'd try the chicken risotto. I have had risotto elsewhere before and they have always been bland in flavour but I wanted to to have it and boy am I glad I did.... WILD.. WILD... WILD !! It was so delicious. You could taste the wine, onion and cream sauce. I usually have the gnocchi ragu which is amazing also. My husband ate quietly which is something he only does when he is in love with the food. He always says it's the best spaghetti marinara. The serves are a generous size. We also love their garlic schiacciata which we always have while we're waiting for our food to come. Their pizzas are delicious also. We highly recommend going there if you love authentic Italian food in a great...

As a child I grew up on The parade and spent lot of time hanging out with the son of the owner of European cafe Sandro …we were 8 x yrs old and as great mates we Hung around the area.. unfortunately he passed away a few years later .. but this restaurant still meant so much to me and my family and over the next years we dined there regularly and enjoyed the amazing pizzas …fast forward 40 years and I am so sad to say that as an adult having ordered Uber I have been let down time and time again ….’it seems every time I have ordered through Uber lately I continually had food poisoning …. The last Five times infact …. And again last night …. Vomiting and diahrea all night What has happened to this place? I am so sad … this was such a special place To me as a child … so when I rang to let you Know that I was really sick after eating one of your dishes the man that I spoke with representing your family restaurant was extremely rude, arrogant and didn’t give shit… he made me feel like I meant nothing , yelled at me and hung up on me the lack of disrespect was astounding …. I am so sad that you have let your families restaurant, reputation and honour fall into disrepute …. And as a result I will never step into your...

Prepare to be taken back to the honest Italian cafès of your childhood (if you are of my vintage, of course 😀).

What else to try in an Italian eatery than that bane of an average chef's life, risotto!

In the case of this establishment, the chilli prawn risotto has restored my faith in the dish. Perfectly al dente rice in a delicious, not too creamy, expertly balanced sauce with plenty of plump & juicy (clearly fresh) prawns.

My sensational meal was completed with a generous side of some of the tastiest roasted vegetables I can remember eating and accompanied by a top quality vino chosen from a decent 'by the glass' list.

If it's good, honest Italian food you're after, served in an environment that would make Nonna feel at home, then this is the place for you.

Judging by the steady stream of customers on a cool Tuesday night in an otherwise sleepy Norwood, this parade stalwart has a large following of returning patrons. I highly recommend you check it out for yourself and find out why 👍

Atmosphere can be a bit like my Italian mates' family dinners, which is authentic but perhaps not ideal if you have sensory issues. I'm sure they could book you in at a quieter...
