July Updates: Special offer in July (until 31st July 2025): On selected meals, just add $1 can get an ice lemon tea and a spring roll. Today is Monday, so I ordered the Hainanese Chicken Rice again and paid $1 extra to make it a good deal 😍
Original Review: I visited this food court quite many times but never tried this Hawker Walker.
Hawker Walker is located at the far end corner of the food court, just next to the toilet. Every time I visited this food court, I would have already ordered food from other food stall before I passed-by them. As they always looked a bit quiet and not popular, I was a bit hesitant to try.
Today, I ordered a "special fried rice" to try. I have quite a bad impression that simple food like fried rice, not everyone can make it right and make it good in this food desert, Adelaide. Anyway, I didn't have much expectation, but surprisingly, the special fried rice was very yummy. It's in a generous portion, freshly made, served hot, with a few big shrimps, fish cakes slides, chicken thigh meats, and a lot of eggs.
It's one of the best fried rice that I ever had in Adelaide. I would like to re-visit shortly to try their other dishes, such as Laksa, Hainanese Chicken Rice or Fried...
Read moreThis was our third visit to Hawker Walker, but first after pandemic, definitely the quality has dropped, and service quality has also dropped. Overall, suggest only the kueh tiaw. It was definitely better couple of years ago. Otherwise go to Nan Yang or Warong, all nearby.
3 staff only - 1 chef, 1 serve rice, and prep meat and 1 cashier. There were 3 to 4 tables with plates left on table. No place to sit. The cashier desk is messy. Not sure understaffed or just not attentive.
Ordered nasi lemak with chicken wings. Rice is normal rice, not cooked with coconut milk. 3 thinly sliced cucumbers, and sambal is also 1 tea spoon for the amount of rice. Chicken wings are nice. Cost of the dish is around $15. Please do not get this dish, unless they changed or improve the quality.
Kueh Tiaw was nice, just as nice as I had it couple of years back. Taste as authentic. It has fish paste, prawns, chicken. Cost of the dish is also around $15. Highly recommended.
A guy came in after us around 2pm, ordered hainanese chicken rice, was informed sold out. Please come early if...
Read moreMeal: I ordered the Wat Tan Hor - rice noodles were burnt out, lots of black pieces, sticky tangled together; the seafood is just two pieces of shrimp, fishcakes and crab sticks(actually they're made of flour); the starchy sauce is supposed to be served together with the noodle but it was very thin, just like soup! Service: the cashier was a tall Asian young guy with a poker-face. Yes I saw him because he was not wearing the mask. He was talking in a very rude tone. At that time I saw just one table was occupied (yeah no wonder, with such meal, not many people will choose this restaurant) and I hoped to have the lunch there but he refused me, rolling his eyes. Price: $15.5 for such a meal? I am still mourning for my money! I could have a much better meal and better experience with other restaurant! I remember Nanyang's price is at least 30% cheaper than this one. I will never go...
