At night, the colourful lights draw your attention to this wonderful Turkish cafe. In the morning, it will be the traditional breakfast menu. Although, I haven't been during breakfast, it's definitely on my short list. At night, the menu is rather small and focused on dessert, traditional teas and coffee. We ordered, and shared, the Kunefe, which was really good and to eat one on your own could be a struggle. Traditional coffee and I had the Turkish apple tea. All really good. Although there weren't many people there, this has the potential of being a great late night hangout. The traditional music was kind of trance-ey, melodic and really set a great vibe. I can really imagine spending time here on a comfy lounge with great food and traditional teas. There is a late night menu on it's way, or so I heard, and that would work really well. The owner is very friendly and welcoming and makes you feel at home with her easy going nature.
I hope this place is here for the long-term. I'm looking forward to it's evolution into an Adelaide institution for late night eats and cool...
Read more"Istanbul Lounge" is one of my favourite places in Adelaide, for the relaxed beautiful decor. I'm a big fan of anything Turkish, and it is especially gorgeous at night, with all the twinkling Turkish lamps.
I have been invited to several private events there, which have been customised perfectly to suit each event.I love the fact that you can hire the space& have it personalised. I have done henna here on several occasions, which extends the Turkish offerings that "Istanbul Lounge" offers to patrons.
It really is somewhere to go with a good book, or a game, and make an afternoon there. I have bumped into several regulars who do exactly that. Gülten is a wonderful hostess, and always keen to share her Turkish heritage through its food, culture, conversation, music and dance.
I have to add how awesome it is to be able to go to Bellydance classes there on certain nights during the week ! And the Turkish lamp workshops are a must for anyone wanting a hands on experience. Highly recommend, and loved for its...
Read moreThe Istanbul Lounge on Magill Road is a rare gem of a cafe, indeed. The food is made with real love 💕; heavenly delicious, authentic and beautifully presented. The service is a humming mix of efficient, friendly but relaxed and even better, unobtrusive. The Turkish styled interior is inviting, tasteful and very comfortable. So much so that you don’t actually want to leave so, you order another coffee and one of their delicious home made pistachio or walnut baklava rolls to prolong the experience and then sit back and get carried away by the exotic, dulcet, classical Turkish music being played softly in the background. And I can’t say that about too many cafes or eateries I’ve been to. It’s a real treat to go there. I’m looking forward to...
