Saffron Indian Cuisine Bathurst — Restaurant in Bathurst

I ordered some take away from Saffron, it was the first and likely the last time I will visit Saffron. First impressions, the interior of the restaurant looked a little unloved. The young lady behind the counter, although polite enough was obviously not enjoying her job and seemed very bored. Never mind, most teenage girls would rather be doing other things. Then came the food, I ordered the Lamb Korma, the young lady asked if I wanted it spicy, medium or mild. Having never eaten here before I played it safe and went for medium. I like a bit of spice but not watering eyes, running nose and burning mouth spice. I also ordered a plain naan to mop up the hopefully delicious sauce and of course some basmati rice. Had they served me just a plate of cooked lamb I would have expected more flavour. I LOVE Indian food, the depth of flavours, the textures, the colours it’s all amazing so I am wondering how they managed to make it so watery and tasteless… Obviously it is cooked ahead of time, frozen, thawed and reheated in a microwave. Even the Naan was flat and dry, again obviously not fresh made. Such a shame. Don’t bother, don’t spend your money there,...

Possibly one of the worst service experiences i've seen in a restaurant. Entire place was empty on Friday night (should have been a clue) - Not one other customer dined in while we were there. Getting the waitress to serve us through an entire meal was like pulling teeth. 20 minutes to take our order. Drinks from the fridge were barely cold. We BYO'd wine and beer - had to drink wine from water glasses as they never provided wine glasses. Food took more than 30 mins to be served despite empty restaurant. After being left to our own devices for the best part of an hour - we had to go into the kitchen to ask for them to clear the table. No one came back. We cleared the table ourselves and took the plates back to the kitchen - Staff didn't seem to have any care or shame whatsoever about their lack of service. Food was average to OK - but not worth it for the terrible service. We were visitors to Bathurst, I think the rest of Bathurst locals have probably already worked out why you don't go...

Worst meal in a long time. We had dinner here a few weeks ago and it was fabulous. Last night (Sunday 22nd Sep) it was cold, tasteless and watery. Some ingredients were substituted with canned tomatoes and didn't even bother telling us. We ordered the exact same meals as 2 weeks ago and they were completely different. We asked if the meals were correct and although the young girl checked with the kitchen - she came back saying they were correct We eat Indian meals all over the world - this would rate as the worst. Bland, cold, unspiced and I would suspect not very fresh. Slow and unfriendly service. We had to remind the girl to bring our drinks 30 minutes into us sitting. When we complained, we were still charged the full amount. I was honest and kind in my feedback, but the girl just laughed it off.

Sad outcome. This business has just moved to this new location and we were hoping for a new regular restaurant. Don't chance it. Save your money and go...
