It's disappointing to have to start my review this way, as it seems to be so typical, but we genuinely did wait 28 minutes for our breakfast. It's Anzac Day, so not a busy day compared to a normal Sunday morning, so I'm completely baffled as to how it took that long, but here we are. When our breakfasts were brought out, we were then asked if we were waiting on drinks. We almost laughed, we had ordered coffees with our breakfast but they hadn't come out yet. We witnessed two other tables who arrived and ordered after us receive their coffees during the 28 minutes that we were waiting for ours. It's clear our order was forgotten about completely. My husband ordered the avocado on sourdough with bacon and requested extra crispy bacon. When it came out, my husband slumped in his chair - the bacon was like rubber and had almost no colour on it whatsoever, a flash in the pan would have been it. The avocado slices sitting on the sourdough would not have even been half of an avocado, meaning his thick slice of toast had a pathetically thin layer of avocado smoothed out over it which he had to use my knife to spread because he wasn't given any cutlery at all. My order was the fried eggs, field mushrooms, fetta and rocket on sourdough. At first glance it looked very decent, until I noticed a piece of egg shell on top of one of my eggs [see uploaded photo]. Also, the mushrooms were not field as described on the menu - they were button. They were also completely doused in balsamic vinegar, which really didn't complement the salty fetta at all. It seems insane to me that they can list something on their menu then serve something else entirely. Some of you may be thinking, 'a mushroom is a mushroom, deal with it.' But for those of you who like mushrooms, especially big juicy delicious field mushrooms, you will understand my disappointment. Then the coffees finally came out. Wow. You could not call my flat white a coffee - a cup of scalding hot milk is what it really was. Sub-par is an understatement. A place like this should not be able to survive in a beautiful suburb like Teneriffe where there are so many other...
Read moreUpdate. Dined here 23 Dec for breakfast. First time dining here since the new owners. Yet again it was a good experience. We were impressed by the price of the coffees. Only $4.30, rare to see in this area! Order at counter, like before. Seating inside and outside. We loved the lounge music they were playing. Great feeling and relaxed vibe. Coffee and food came out quite quickly. Price of food is also very reasonable, especially for this area. Dog friendly. The owner (I'm guessing) brought out a treat for our dog and had water bowls available also. They really make you feel welcome. I loved the Turkish bread with egg, bacon, spinach, and aioli. Was delicious.
I go here more often than other cafes in this area. I live very close so it's convenient for a start off but I've never had a bad experience here. On arrival there is the cafe owners fluffy white dog which greats you. Very cute. The staff always greet you with a smile and are courteous while they take your order. The food is very reasonably priced. The food has never disappointed and the coffee is good. If you are in this area, this is a very safe option and one I recommend. If you like bircher muesli I highly recommend coming here. I've had it twice in one month and love it. It's the right consistency, the right amount of fruit, and...
Read moreA Great Morning Coffee Spot with a Few Quirks
Caffeine Espresso is a regular stop for my husband, Hugh, and I on our morning coffee run, and for good reason—the coffee is solid, the vibe is great, and the music selection is always on point. It’s the kind of café that makes mornings a little bit better.
That said, there are a couple of small things that could improve the experience. The front counter feels overcrowded, with the coffee machine and glass cabinet taking up most of the space, leaving an awkward gap in the middle for ordering and paying. It’s a bit of a shuffle every time.
Also, while the atmosphere is great, table maintenance could use a little more attention. Some tables often feel a bit sticky, and empty cups can linger for a while after people have left.
Minor quirks aside, it’s still a great local spot, and we’ll definitely keep coming back for our morning...
