Its not always about the food
We visited the Adrift Cafe a week ago, based on the good reviews this restaurant has received. It was a busy night but a table inside was found for us (my wife and I) inside. We ordered an entre to share and some drinks. The entre (Bruchetta) was excellent. For our mains, I ordered the fish of the day and my wife the Calamari. We did not like these dishes and we could not eat them. When the waitperson saw we had finished, she asked the question whether there was something wrong and we told her we just didn't like the way the meals were served. Now usually if we are asked this question, the plates are cleared and that's the end of it. A few minutes later, the head person came over and asked what was wrong. We told her why we couldn't eat our dishes and very concerned, she asked whether they could offer us something else instead which we declined. She then asked whether we would accept deserts on the house. We initially said no but at her insistence, we accepted a dessert to share which was excellent. So was there something wrong with the restaurant's food? Not necessarily; the dishes we selected were simply not to our taste. With hindsight a poor selection. Would we go back? Yes, we would. The menu has other dishes that I am sure are worth trying. But overall, we were very impressed with the way the restaurant treated us and their genuine concern that we did not...
Read moreThe staff were very attentive, friendly and the service was quick, both drinks and food being delivered in a very reasonable time. We ordered tandoori chicken skewers to share for entree which was tender and delicious. However, the reef and beef mains were a huge disappointment. The 350 g Black Angus steaks were both cooked to perfection, mine medium to rare, my companions well done, but they were tough and really hard to chew. The steak was sitting on the pile of chips which made most of them soggy and smashed. Those not under the steak were hot and crispy though, so maybe a different plate to present the large steaks is worth a thought. The best part of the meal was the 3 prawns sitting on top. Succulent and with a tasty sauce. Sadly, we couldn’t eat even half of the steak, having to swallow it in chunks. If I went back, I’d probably go seafood, the smells coming out of the kitchen...
Read moreThis little cafe/restaurant has some of the best burgers I've ever had. Enjoyed the food I had there for lunch so much I went back for dinner twice and each time they did not disappoint. The fish of the day was grilled perfectly and was delicious. If you're there before 2pm I would recommend this place for either the Local fish burger or the vegetarian burger as they really were so well done and didn't have mountains of onion like so many burger places think is a great idea.
Eating in is available and you can also have everything as takeaway even the dinner menu items which is a nice option as you can then enjoy them beach side or poolside at your accommodation. All seating is outdoors though there is a nice breeze most evenings and they do have fans but if you find the heat a difficulty then get it takeaway.
Staff are friendly, helpful and the food comes out quickly. Hope to go...
