High On 55 — Restaurant in Fremantle

Walked past this busy place. First instinct was to go in and check it out due to the number of people waiting at the counter and seated inside and outside.

They specialise in broth and chose to take away, it is extremely hot. The kind lady behind the counter had to repeat herself to me which I found so fascinating as she probably pronounced them all right and explained the flavour profiles.

I went with the Hue spicy beef broth and no regrets ! Magical flavours of lemon grass, rich, beef broth and fish sauce. I was pleasantly surprised.

The BBQ pork steamed buns reminded me of my childhood, white fluffy and sweet bread and just right filling (not too sweet, no food colouring).

Will be back with mother, who is notoriously picky. Looking forward to trying...

Me and my husband new in the area, read great reviews and after long wait, come 1030 I had seafood laksa and husband had chicken.

Pleasant cafe/restaurant on the Fremantle High St just a block short of the coffee strip. An inviting menu of Vietnamese dishes from which I chose the national bowl of pho. This came to me quicker than I expected and was immediately disappointing. Traditional pho uses very thinly sliced beef that is not too lean and has some fat. Mine was thickly sliced and lean. It was slightly chewy and lacked taste, probably because of the lack of fat. The soup was not aromatic lacking in fresh coriander leaves, chillies and lemon juice.
