I recently had the pleasure of dining at Fu Manchu Oriental, and my experience was delightful thanks in large part to the excellent service provided by Lisa, one of the staff members. From her warm smile to her attentive nature, Lisa truly made my visit memorable.
First and foremost, Lisa's friendly and welcoming demeanor immediately put me at ease. She greeted me with genuine enthusiasm and guided me to my table with great care. Throughout the evening, she demonstrated an impressive knowledge of the menu, effortlessly answering my questions and providing helpful recommendations.
Lisa's attention to detail was commendable. She ensured that my dining experience was enjoyable by checking in regularly, ensuring my drinks were refilled, and promptly addressing any requests or concerns. Her professionalism and efficiency were evident, as she managed to balance the needs of all the guests in a timely manner.
Furthermore, Lisa's passion for the cuisine at Fu Manchu Oriental shone through in her explanations of various dishes. She offered insights into the preparation methods, ingredients, and flavors, which enhanced my appreciation of the food. Her enthusiasm was infectious, and it made me all the more excited to try the dishes she recommended.
In terms of her service style, Lisa struck a perfect balance between attentiveness and allowing me to enjoy my meal without feeling rushed. She was readily available when needed but also respected my space, creating a relaxed dining atmosphere.
The only reason I did not give a full five-star rating is because there were a couple of instances where it took slightly longer than expected to receive certain items. However, this minor setback did not significantly impact my overall experience, thanks to Lisa's professionalism and efforts to rectify the situation.
In conclusion, Lisa at Fu Manchu Oriental deserves high praise for her exceptional service. Her friendly nature, knowledge of the menu, and attention to detail contributed greatly to the overall enjoyment of my dining experience. I highly recommend Fu Manchu Oriental to anyone looking for delicious oriental cuisine, with Lisa's impeccable service being a definite highlight of...
Read moreEDIT: Under new management.. No longer Perfection EVERY time & it’s no longer Faultless! We visited in November 2019. Updated Review as follows: My husband and I were ‘regulars’ at Fu Man Chu Oriental Kitchen, which always served the most superb food and dining experience. Their flavour combinations were right up there with the some of the best food we’d ever eaten, so we we were rather excited when Fu Man Chu reopened after its brief closure for refurbishment. As usual we called and booked a table and we were informed the restaurant is now under new management. Upon our arrival at the restaurant a young man vaguely greeted us at the bar, (that’s ok, he may have been a new employee), then a lady rushed up to greet us from behind the bar also and pointed to our table located just near the bar at the front. Not ideal, but ok. We’d come with a very open mind and ready to tuck in to a new exciting menu. we ordered our usual tap beer and Chandon........The menu looked similar to the ‘old’ (previous Fu) menu, so we ordered (if my memory is correct) the Roti Canal with a curry or a satay type sauce and Kingfish with finger lime and wasabi (??). Unfortunately the Roti was doughy and the sauce resembled glue. Little to no flavour in the sauce which was so thick it was impossible to dip the roti in. It honestly loved like a store bought sauce. The fish dish was less than impressive, capturing minimal flavours in everything on the plate. At this point we decided not to continue our new dining experience and asked for our bill. After paying the bill, my husband actually commented to the girl (we assumed she is the new manager), that at no time throughout our 2 dishes did anybody come and check to ask if everything was ok. Her reply to my hubby was, “Thank You”. Don’t be fooled by this restaurant folks.......it’s NOT anywhere near what it used to be. Not in flavour, presentation, food product quality and least of all customer service. We ask it all the time..........why purchase a very successful business then change it? It’s successful for a reason!! Very disappointing for an old favourite to become so poor so quickly and we certainly wouldn’t go back. Always good to try new...
Read moreDined at this restaurant with first table. My family and I left extremely appalled and dissatisfied. Firstly, we ordered drinks, we received a small glass of tiger for the price of $12 and a small mocktail drink for $14. We ordered 2 large dishes, one entree dish and rice to share between 4 people. The large karaage chicken dish came out looking like a starter size with the quantity served in a small bowl. The large Malaysian chicken came out with 4 tiny strips of chicken on top of each other filled with curry sauce to make up for space. The food was mediocre at best and we weren’t even meal checked by the waitress, who only came after to clear our dishes once we finished. From the beginning the waitress didn’t have a smile or welcoming vibe. She seemed less interested in delivering quality customer service and more interested in just sitting down most of the time chatting away. Upon payment, once seeing the bill we were shocked as to how it could have ended up being that expensive even being on first table. The food was overpriced for the amount of serving they give. We informed the waitress that the portion size was really small and she seemed confused at first but then went onto say that the portion size is the same for full price paying customers and first table, which is not what we were relaying. Then again had to say that for people paying full price for these dishes is outrageous considering the portion size. She seemed unapologetic towards our concern and went onto to say she will pass it on to the management, which to I replied to please pass on that feedback and left. I work in hospitality and have first table in our restaurant so I definitely know how it goes and this entire experience seemed like a total rip off. Overall, I am extremely disappointed and will not be returning to this restaurant nor would I recommend others to dine here even on first table. Additionally, there was a like $9 weekend surcharge which was never mentioned on first table (only said there was 15% public holiday surcharge) nor was there any display of it. I also mentioned this to the waitress and she responded with that it’s apparently shown everywhere...
