On the 7th of November, Me and my partner walked into this museum for my own nostalgia because 10 years ago we went here with my family when I was 12 and I fell in love with this place. We were greeted by a lovely man who pushed us to do a tour with the guide at the basement section. Now me and my partner are not tour guide people, in fact we despise it, but the minute I went down there and heard Mark talk, I was infactuated. He was genuinely the highlight of my trip and my god is his knowledge wealthy. His humour is absolutely unbeatable and the way he presents himself whilst talking about the wonders of his basement is amazing. I hung on that mans every word. The genuine love for something so special (and unfortunately, a dying art) made me hang on the edge of my seat and immedietly break into a sweat with worry about an art form I had never had a second thought about until then. He makes you care, you feel like you are in a mates house and hes showing you his cool things, he makes you feel welcome and when your eyes aren't closed from laughing, they are opened wide at the wonders of this amazing world and what the gory history before us allowed me to be able to walk into that museum and take this journey. I had the privelidge of him showing me some extra photos of World War II when it was just me and my partner, and I felt so special having him allow me into what felt like his home and giving me a piece of inside his endless wiseness. Listen, the wax museum is amazing, but Mark, He is something so special. He is my new celebrity Idol. I could sit and listen to him talk about history for a million years and never EVER get bored. Mark - I don't blame you for not remembering me and my Partner, but I just want you to know, we remember you. We left that place in awe of you and this company is so lucky to have you. We wish you nothing but the best, and I do hope to see you next year if we come back. You are a diamond...
Read moreI'll start by saying that I have been to Madame Tussauds in London and really, there's no comparison.
The good points were the charming and funny front desk man, and the gentleman who guided us through the Historical Torture chamber.
The torture chamber in London had moving parts & sound, and I remember leaping over the foot plates so I didn't have to watch. Much better here as no such thing, just a very informative man who told us the most intriguing history of the implements. We learned so so much!
There were 4 children and their family from Darwin on the tour who were very well behaved and I'm a bit of a tarj! I really do think that there should be an age limit on the Torture chamber of Highschool kids and older. The things he talks about are not for young ears and the guide looked a little uncomfortable at times trying to find words for the younger audience . Please think of your children, this is real life stuff and not TV.
The famous people chamber was rather disappointing. Many of the people displayed looked nothing like their true self in features, or hair, or eye colour. Really, they were so bad that they shouldn't be on display. Many of them needed their wigs dusted and combed as did the crown jewels.
The good ones were Stalin, Ghandi, John Howard to name a few. The heights are all true to life and you'll be surprised by some of their heights, both short and tall!
Perhaps the Gold Coast Council could give them a grant to assist with sprucing up the figures' attributes and putting a chair or two in the torture chamber as it's a long time standing for the...
Read moreI will tell you about my experience at your Wax Museum in Surfers Paradise just today the 31st of July 2014 I was so horrified shocked and shaking with rage when I left there that when I got back to my apartment my wife said are you alright and when I told her what I had seen she was as shocked as I was and although she was going the next day she said no way I'm going no where near that place. And all this not for the reason you might think, you see I couldn't believe that anyone in this country could display a convicted sex offender dirt bag paedophile and display him in the same enclosure as Paul Hogan, I was offended to see a display of rolf harris not only in Wax, but a post card at the counter and his name on all your brochures! I was offended that there are people in this great land of ours that will do anything for money. I would bet Paul Hogan doesn't know he is displayed next to a convicted paedophile. And I have the photo's to prove it when I make contact with him! This is disgraceful, the most vile thing you can do in this world is interfere with little children and you have him up there in full glory, SHAME SHAME SHAME on you. And to try to justify the whole thing with the one little line on the plaque beneath him saying he was convicted of indecent assault, how absolutely weak! If you had any guts you would at the very least have said he is a lowlife scum bag child molester paedophile, because that my friend is the truth! I am disgusted and will never advise anyone...
