Upon visiting Joe's Famous Deli, nestled within the bustling Pacific Fair, our anticipation was met with the allure of their much-talked-about American-style sandwiches and subs. Among their diverse menu, the "Lobbie Roll" — a sophisticated take on the classic lobster roll — caught our attention. Despite its premium price point, our affinity for lobster rolls urged us to indulge.
The Lobbie Roll is an exquisite blend of lobster and crab, enriched with the creamy texture of kewpie mayo, the crispness of shredded iceberg lettuce, the subtle bite of chives, the luxurious touch of black caviar, and a refreshing squeeze of lemon. Each bite was a delightful journey through a harmonious blend of flavours and textures.
The pricing, while on the higher side, reflects the quality and rarity of the ingredients used, particularly the lobster and black caviar. It's a consideration for those who cherish unique gourmet experiences over casual dining.
The ambience of Joe's Famous Deli adds to the overall experience. The cleanliness of the space, coupled with its stark white interiors, transports you to a quintessential American deli shop. It's a thoughtful touch that complements the dining experience, making it not just about the food but the journey it offers.
In summary, Joe's Famous Deli at Pacific Fair is a must-visit for those seeking to indulge in an American deli experience right in the heart of Australia. While the Lobbie Roll may lean towards the pricier side, it promises a culinary delight that's hard to find elsewhere. A testament to American cuisine with a gourmet twist, it's an experience we'd recommend to food enthusiasts willing to explore the finer side of...
Read moreI have had 2 for 2 bad experiences there. First, I ate there about a year ago and the girl preparing our sandwiches was touching her phone (scrolling or texting) while preparing our food. This is not the level of cleanliness I want...so I avoided going for about a year. A week ago I thought I'd try it again so we ordered 2 sandwiches and the front counter guy tried very hard to be helpful and answer our questions about two of the sandwiches. He struggled due to an English language barrier. He just could not understand my questions but he did try. He even went and got a bun out of the bun drawer to show us the size. He was wearing latex gloves but he before helping us he was taking money from the previous customer and handing them their table number stand. I started to see a repeat of the cleanliness issue from a year prior but still went ahead and ordered our sandwiches and paid. He then got back into the bun drawer and pulled out a bun and started making our sandwiches. These were the same gloved hands that had taken payment and handed them their table number stand (which I'm sure are NOT clean as customers handle them over and over).
I got the attention of a different employee and told them I wanted a refund and did not want to eat there. I explained to him why and he was very understanding, agreed, refunded our money, and said he would talk to that employee. The bottom line here, unfortunately, is the owner or manager is not concerned with food sanitation. They...
Read moreI ate here a few weeks ago and had a bad experience. I wasn’t going to leave a review at first, cause I was just gonna let it brush off my shoulders, but then my mom texted me that there were other bad reviews I should look at. That gave me the courage to leave mine. The staff was awesome and friendly and helpful. The food and the owner, not so much. I had an issue with the food tasting stale and tried to speak to the owner about it. Rather than hearing me out or anything, he immediately tried assuring me his food isn’t stale and refused to hear another word. The food even if it wasn’t stale isnt really worth the price point either. Its not very inspired. Could save a lot by just recreating the plates at home and have a more tasteful experience anyhow. If you’re looking for a restaurant where the food isn’t worth eating or bringing up, but you want a friendly server- this is your place. Otherwise, it would be best to choose...
