Excited to go as usually a once a year occasion, but left feeling like I was an inconvenience and order was incorrect.
We sat down at the table which has QR codes all over for the Max Brenner App so naturally I placed an order through there. I was unsure if I had to collect from the counter or if it’s taken to the table so I went up to the counter to clarify. I asked saying “I’ve just placed an order in the app and wanted to check if I pick up from here or if it comes to the table, I’m just unsure as I haven’t been in about a year and the app looked different last time” the Lady behind the counter responded saying the app is for takeaway only and is not for dine in, she also said she can make the order done in this time but in next time it will be takeaway only. I said sorry and that I was just confused but thanked her for the change (I assumed it must have been more expensive to dine in and that’s why it presented a problem for her. I double checked and the price is the same.
Service was quick (was quiet though) but both of the American marshmallow hot chocolates ordered did not have the marshmallows. Read moreAverage and I was underwhelmed. Max Brenner had the wow factor in the past but today was nothing special. Coffee order size was wrong and temperature warm. I did raise this with the Barista and he said would bring me another over which never arrived.
Ordered the waffles which were ok but didn't seem fresh. When you cut into them they didn't cleanly slice they were mashed and broke apart and crumbled as if old and stood too long.
Overall a good experience and the food ok, place is clean and well kept. Service was not very cheerful as the staff looked like they didn't want to be there. I was charged for public holiday service 10% even though New Years Day is not a public holiday as it fell on a Saturday. Monday is the public holiday in lieu.
I believe could be a thriving and fun experience if they made more effort. The MB in Broadbeach more lively and welcoming, I'd travel further South where you'd probably feel more value.

Read moreUpdate: Staff have greatly improved since my last experience, changed my rating to 5 stars! Staff were friendly, punctual and the staff member Bardia had outstanding customer service. My wife and i are excited to start going back again on the regular.
The staff served the food cold, the two girls on were talking down the one male staff who seemed new and obviously scared to death to be on cashier. The staff were openly discussing how horrible certain staff and customers were and gossiping right in front of us and they weren’t just talking. They were laughing and yelling like they weren’t even at work. We thanked them for the meal ( to see if they were cold in their response to gauge their customer service skills) and they just gave a disgusted look to my wife and I.
