Edit: Judging by the owners very sarcastic response to my review, im going to go ahead and say the menu options aren't just a bold choice, but more of a morolistic push. Flour can be organic. Meat can be organic. Hell, pure sugar can be organic. The breakfast we ate just didn't taste that great to us or fill us up, as a business owner i can't imagine taking it so personally that someone didn't enjoy "takes" on certain dishes. I originally gave 2 stars, because the service was great. But with a reply like that, i think i can see what the response would have been if i had brought up an issue with the food while i was there.
Came because it's was the highest rated local cafe near our hotel, left kind of disappointed. Atmosphere is really nice as are the workers. if you have more conventional tastes the hippy menu feels really limiting. Ordered the big brekkie and almond meal pancakes. The big brekkie had no meat whatsoever, even at $29. I was offered "extra" chicken or salmon when ordering, but i didn't think that meant the meal was totally vegetarian otherwise. Might be my fault for not reading the menu but to be honest I have never in my life had to think too hard about ordering a "big brekkie", it's kind of a standardised dish. The almond meal pancakes were as good as could be expected, but still disappointing when you're just in the mood for a proper pancake and there aren't any.
It's one of those health cafes where the alternatives replace the traditional instead of complementing them. Feels kind of harsh leaving two stars but when you pay $70 for breakfast and both leave feeling unsatisfied I don't know what else I could give.
As more specific feedback, the iced coffee and orange juice were great but stirring with the ice before serving means your first sip isn't gross and room temp. We were also sat at a table with only one chair, not the end of the world but little things add up when you're already out of your element.
Sorry this place didn't hit with us, clearly others like it and they put...
Read moreThe food is so flavourful and I loved how healthy it is! Not healthy meaning only the vegetable and meat but healthy as in they don't cook with inflammatory oils, instead they cook with butter, olive oil and I believe I think coconut oil as well. I got a gingerella and WOW tasted so addicting and it was balanced well with the hint of vanilla! I asked for a veggie stir fry with a salmon on top and the salmon was cooked just too well! Not too raw and not too overcooked it was easy to chew, soft and overall you could tell it was pure fresh right from the sea. You could tell the salmon lived a good life under the sea 🤣. I also got a cinnamon and apple cake and also a blueberry one and they are gluten free meaning they also dont use any of those bleached flours! The cakes WERE SO GOOD and rightfully filling! But right as I'm typing this I'm craving another one!!! My mum loved the apple and cinnamon one and its suprising because my mother usually doesn't like eating from outside! The workers were so kind, I came a bit late and they were closing but they were so generous to still serve me even when they were meant to be closing! You could tell they really care about feeding their customers wholesome gut-friendly food and care about when they are hungry aswell! The scenery was peaceful and quiet along with some tropical music but with no lyrics which I prefer that way! So much tropical plants and the store looked so alive that I felt right at home! Overall if your looking for a cafe that doesn't use any inflammatory oils, that really want to nurious their customers and they do not whatsoever use suger or bleached or chemical ingredients. They are the bestfriend to the gut health! I love eating here and my vacation is over so I will forever miss...
Read moreAmazing find, stumbled upon this gem not far from Broadbeach. Hidden away in a peaceful hotel garden courtyard, some of the best "real health food" we have had in any city. Many places jump on the health-wave but too often are full of nutritional contradictions. Their entire menu is thoughtfully considered, with all ingredients being organic, using good natural fats, proteins and amino's including some ingredients that we had never seen before. Considering everything is organic and the supplements used in their smoothies and drinks are in their purest form, prices are very reasonable. If you are someone who is health conscious or looking for sports related nutrient rich foods this is the place to visit on the Gold Coast. Lovely couple running the restaurant who are passionate about good real food, highly...
