Firstly this so-called "Wagyu" burger… I don’t know who you’re trying to fool, but that was certainly not Wagyu. That was a frozen, supermarket patty that tasted like it had been banished to the back of a freezer for far too long. "House-made and fresh," the waitress claimed! 😅 nah, absolutely 100% not fresh or ok. I would suggest trying a Wagyu burger at any other IHG hotel in the world. Burger bun was also coles, expired and had certainly been microwaved, to attempt to fool me.
Then there’s the "chicken breast" in the pasta, it wasn’t fresh chicken breast at all. Nope, it was that pre-cooked, smoked, budget chicken usually thrown into a sad-looking salad at a petrol station. No real chef would ever try to pass that off in a proper dish, let alone pasta. Lazy and frankly unacceptable.
And the schnitzel? No surprises there—it was just as bad as everything else. Do I need to provide the 3 steps to making a schnitzel?
I thought the saving grace would be the frozen margarita, because surely anyone i the entire world can make a decent one. But again no, it was just strong tequila-flavored ice. Horrible. I couldn't even finish it.
Honestly, the whole meal was a disaster and I'm annoyed at the lack of reviews.
I usually trust reviews, but NOTHING warned me the food would be this bad. One honest review could have saved us from this terrible meal after our long flight. Hopefully, this one saves...
Read moreSo unfortunate to be leaving this review. When placing our order we were told that they had run out of cutlery but should have some by the time our food was ready. And it took 50 minutes for mine to come out, one would certainly think so.
3 of the 5 meals came to the table at the 30 minute mark but no cutlery. We asked a waiter to get some for us. He disappeared into the kitchen but didn’t come back. In the meantime, the pasta dish went cold. We then asked again a second time at which point we got the cutlery but had to have the pasta reheated. Not sure why we bothered because there was that much chili oil in it that it was inedible and went to waste. This is someone who loves spice so it was really bad. Fish and chips were apparently the only saving grace. Fish taco was okay but $23 for one taco seems a bit steep. 20 minutes later mine and my son’s meal arrived. Mine was ok. No steak knife given so I had to try and cut it with a butter knife. Very small serve of runny gravy. My son’s burger was ordinary. Only just warm so cheese didn’t melt even a little bit and was like rubber. Coffees arrived and one was cold.
I could understand the wait times if it was busy but there was barely a soul in sight. You’d think it would be nice and quiet considering but music was soooo loud we had to raise our voices to speak to each other! Very sad to say we will...
Read moreThe place was quiet and casual on a weekday lunch. We are locals and wanted to try this place out to expand our horizons from one or two of our other favourite hang outs. One thing that stood out was no table service, order at the bar. First bartender very accommodating but change of shift meant second bartender, not as much.
There are limited options here for kids. Seating especially. The lounges which were reserved had no one in them for the two hours I was there, the others were in use. They became available after half an hour though.
The food was standard modern for lunch we had tapas- wings (about 8 from memory with blue cheese sauce), pizza (medium size) chips (small basket ) and haloumi (with cherry tomatoes and dried herbs). The food was good but nothing to rave about. The 4 cheese pizza for the kids lacked any sauce and was ignored by the kids for chips instead. A late lunch for them but nothing of any substance.
So deduct the alcoholic drinks and meal was about $85, this was for finger food, two juices ($12 for the kids) and the kids were hungry. We went home for vegemite sandwiches. Thanks Weekend Edition for the voucher we had won. Thanks also to the older couple that commented on how well our kids behaved (we eat out often). But sorry Walrus Social House we won't be...
