We used to love this Vietnamese place and we haven’t been back for about a year until last night. I’m not sure if they have changed owners or chefs, but the quality of the food has definitely changed. We ordered spring rolls, Chefs Special pork lemongrass & Bun Bo Hue. Spring rolls - they have shrunk. They used to be a bit bigger like the photo from my previous review (photo attached) and it’s no longer as tasty as it used to be. The wrapper was too thick & there were no veggies mixed with the mince. Chef’s special lemongrass pork - you couldn’t even taste the lemongrass! The sauce was sweeter than usual. The pork used was thin slices of cheap quality pork. It’s not worth $25. Bun Bo Hue - I ordered this dish based on a “customer review photo” that was posted here and on their Facebook page. It showed a chunk of thick beef ribs and what looked like beef brisket. It looked warm and comforting. What I got was thin chewy slices of beef. The meat loaf slices were rubbery. I’m not sure why they are not consistent with the food they serve. Are the special ingredients just for social media marketing and only served to “particular customers”? Even the spring roll photo from the most recent photo review looked different from what we received last night. I’m speculating that the reviews being posted with nice looking food are fake because it’s not what we got when we ate here last night. We are locals and used to eat here regularly. I even raved about this place 3 years ago - it was that good. Photo of my previous review attached. We only stopped going about a year ago cos we didn’t feel like having Vietnamese food, but Vietnam Oi used to be our “go-to” when we wanted to feel like we’re back in Vietnam. It’s such a shame that things have changed. The previous owner/ chef was very warm and friendly. She made sure to greet us and even give suggestions. Last night we were seated, given menus and asked to order at the counter which was fine. Food came out reasonably quick. Their biggest downside was the quality of the food. For $25 a dish each, it wasn’t worth it. Time to look for a new local Vietnamese restaurant in Surfers!

Very average food, rude staff and very long wait times. There are better Vietnamese options in Surfers. We ordered dinner here as it was the closest to our accommodation and after a long day we just wanted some quick and easy takeaway. With only 4 other customers we thought we'd be back in our apartment in no time. After about 15 minutes my partner saw them bagging up a few meals and as we were sitting outside she ventured inside to ask if it was ours and was quite bluntly told to go away. After half an hour I braved the angry wait staff to ask where our 4 dishes were and was told it would be another 10 minutes but not to worry the rest of out meal was bagged up and ready to go as soon as our quail was ready. Now I have a few issues with this. Firstly our food sat there getting cold. Secondly, they claimed the reason our meal was taking so long was because of the quail. Now I'm no culinary expert but the quail is one of the smallest birds we consume and there is no way it takes 40 to grill something that is smaller than my toothbrush. I don't mind people forgetting things, it happens and if we were told as much but that it is on it's way that would have been fine. But waiting 40 minutes for a few mediocre dishes while dealing with rude argumentative staff is less acceptable. Especially when there are much better options on the other end of the same block.

Finally a legit egg coffee on the coast 🙌 I've been here twice already, one was back in June and today lol The food is absolutely delicious and I kept the photos and ordered different food on menus on two occasions so I can give my proper feedback. I ordered the Bun Dau Mam Tom when I first visited and spring rolls for entreé. The Bun Dau has a the pungent strong fish sauce and the chef asked if I am from Vietnam as I ordered it. I told her I had it when I visited Vietnam in 2016 and I love it. This dish is close to what you'll get in Vietnam, I just wish there's more fresh garnish but other than that 10/10 for me. The spring rolls are also really nice and fresh. I ordered the egg coffee and I'm not really expecting much from it but oh my... I feel like I was back in Saigon when I had it. So delish! The Bun cha I had today was really good, it might be for two people but I had it all for my self lol. It was very fresh but filling. The wait person is also very nice and approachable and suggested I order the chicken wings and I'm glad I tried it as it was garlicky, sweet and just tasty. I recommend this restaurant for all the Vietnamese food lover out there!

Hi folks, I wanna rate it as 'half star', but Google doesn't allow. My family & I do love Vietnamese Pho and Rice Paper Roll then selected this Viet Restaurant as our first dinner in Gold Coast as tourists.

Let me list all my comments below:

Beef Pho, No. 10 on the menu, soooo weird and disgusting taste to me who is a Pho fan with more than one decade, I wanna Cry.

No. 10, Com Tam, grilled pork made me weird & disgusting feeling: just image a grilled pork or steak with tastes of too sweety, too salty, too sour and mixed all together.

Fried Quail, I cannot find numerical sequence from its online menu, but they didn't fry quail well done, I found a 'medium or rare' level quail leg.

Mixed Vege Salad, cannot find the menu no. as well, so strange taste again, like an unfresh & no-juicy vege and the so called ' extra topping' costing us $4, we choose Avocado but, almost nothing or just a extra price but comes at a regular or less amount.

No. 6, Rice Paper Roll, we ate with chicken, just reached to the 'Pass at 50%' level, cannot be rated 'D at 70%'.

Finally, we cost $139 for a terrible dinner and keeping hungry all night, then now we are cooking instance noodle for our real dinner in the hotel. $139 purchased us 'New Hungry' experience, soooo wonderful.

The End. 'one-star' rating is too high for its real experience.

That's all for this Viet restaurant. My family will NEVER NEVER NEVER visit it again and we will remind all our friends to avoid this restaurant during...

150km. 3hrs in traffic from Sunshine Coast to Gold Coast. We finally make it back to our favourite Vietnamese restaurant for dinner, mind you, i live in Brisbane. Vietnam Oi is a very unique Vietnamese Restaurant in its own way. Apart from their regular A la Cart menu, there is a Chef Menu though it is not printed. In order to find out what is on that menu, you have to call up to speak with the Chef and pre-order cuz they dont last that long. Sounds troublesome but i dare say there you will find the FRESHEST Seafood not just in the Gold Coast but the majority of the whole Southeast QLD, of course i have not been to every single restaurant but being in the trade I can vow that i have never had such fresh mollusks anywhere else. Sounds like it’s gonna hurt your wallet real bad, doesn't it? It does not. I was shocked to see the bill for 2 adults plus drink and takeaways for another family. It was less than a dinner for two with drinks in the CBD. Fresh ingredients is the foundation of a scrumptious dish and the Chef takes full advantage of it and does not let it go to waste. We always order or pre-order i should say, off the Chef menu and it’s always great. The closest food from home i can ever get outside of Vietnam. For those who dont speak the language, do worry not, every single member do speak English and they do very well. Dont take my word for it, try it...
