I've bought Habib's mix on the weekend. Firstly, they gave me the rice instead of chips even though I did specify I wanted the chips, had to come back to get the chips. Rice tasted strange, overcooked, not fresh and for a very required taste, which is fine, every cuisine has it's own intricate flavours. Chips were great, garlic paste was delicious, I also loved pickled peppers and dill cucumbers, even fresh vegetable salad with balsamic dressing was ok. But the main dish!.. To start with, I was given a cold pita bread that resembled one just from a supermarket. Very scarce amount of meat for a serve that they charge $40 (!) for. Thinnest lamb cutlet (did they use a ruler to make sure it's thin enough?), it had a very strange smell to it, can't even describe it, something like iodine. Then I've tasted the mince, it was ok but of course very thinly placed on the skewer; some other meat (lamb? beef?), that was chewy, dry and had grisles in pretty much every piece as if they were using off cuts for their skewers. Chicken skewer was the most edible one but super dry, cold and far from fresh. The 'best' part was that 1 hour later I started to feel strong stomach ache, introgestion and then ended up sick as! I couldn't sleep all night from the tummy aches and only started to feel a little better by the next day arvo. I wouldn't recommend anyone eating there, spend your $40 in the fast food outlets, at least they have stricter food...
Read morewe have eaten at this place before and the food was absolutely incredible. We drove back again a couple of months later and we ordered the same food; $16 worth batata harra were store bought soggy wedges with some sauce. Portion size has been reduced and it's not worth the price you pay. Chicken shawarma plate was dry chicken with cold fries and it costed me $31. Not worth it....
I gave this place 5 star review when I ate here first time. Owner never said a word when I gave 5 star review.
This time food was bad and tasteless and I gave the restaurant 1 star. The owner responded very rudely telling me that I only give bad review. I am not sure how owner can justify a bowl of store bought wedges for $16. This is not batata harra. This is robbery. Shame on you.
People only give honest reviews. If it's destroying your business then I don't think that your business should exist because your business is based on customer service. You are in the hospitality industry where customer reviews matter.
Dear Owner, Your menu shouldn't read Batata Harra. You should write STORE bought FROZEN potato wedges with chilli sauce and put the price, I wouldn't have ordered it definitely.
When i got to a restuarant, i prefer freshly cooked food.
Sorry, I wasn't aware that restaurants in Orchid Avenue serve store bought food with hefty price tag because rent is so high. Thats a...
Read moreLamb Shawarma Plate ($35.99): It’s served with crinkle cut fries, pita breads, salad, and 2 kinds of sauces (tahini and garlic). The lamb strips taste absolutely perfect, fairly succulent, and great in portion. Dipping the strip into the tahini sauce and eating it with the bread is the authentic and satisfying Mediterranean food. However, I didn’t try dipping into the garlic sauce because I’m kinda allergic to garlic. If you’re a lamb lover, the place is definitely worth a try. Moreover, crinkle cut fries are relatively well seasoned, delicious, and of great texture, especially when the juiciness and umami of the lamb is on it.
Furthermore, soft drinks cost $5.5, Lemon, Lime & Bitters costs $6.5, but fresh juices and mocktails are a lot more expensive around $17.
In conclusion, there are a large number of seats both inside and outside. The decor such as the chairs, tables, walls, and ornaments have great cultural value. The restaurant wasn’t too busy at Wednesday night but I’ve been passed by here with large crowds for a few times. The foods are quite expensive but very authentic and have sufficient portions. The service attitude and speed are also both decent. The nearest G link tram station is Cavill Avenue, which is approximately a 5 minute walk away. Overall, it’s a...
