WAI-WAI Dining — Restaurant in Gold Coast City

Horrible customer service!

Went to have lunch here at 12:45pm for 2 people, over an hour before they closed for the day. Was told we wouldn’t be served as they were closing soon - no further explanation as the staff member proceeded to close the door on us.

I knocked on the door to ask about why they were closing early, as the website still had they closed at 2pm. I was told that they had updated Christmas hours, but there wasn’t any update on the website, Google or a sign of these updated hours on the shop window/door.

When I started to ask if we could see the updated Christmas hours, a delivery man came to drop off packages for the restaurant. The staff member opened the door for him before closing it on us again while I was talking to him.

Such a shame as we loved this place but will not go back. Never experienced a door being closed in my face before, let alone twice in the same few minutes.

Disappointing outcome and DO...

Perhaps we caught them on an off night but will never be going back here again. Ordered various different items which all took ages to come out (there were only 2 other couples in the restaurant). When we received our beef don it tasted, looked and felt like it was reheated tasteless shredded beef from the night prior. We ordered chicken katsu curry but were surprised to find it severely undercooked and incredibly watery. Attempted to order crispy potatoes but ended up with French fries ( the waitress explained that what we ordered wasn’t available and the kitchen offered fries in their place ). We had 3 separate issues with items on the paper menu not matching what they had/what was on the digital menu. Overall not impressed with what we received. Would have given it a 5 star but unable to.. We ordered the most expensive bbq set and at the beginning it was all good. Then it slowed down, really slowed down! Waited very long times and then most of the orders never even came. One example is the tuna sashimi, we ordered 5 sets and never got any Of them. We even called and asked twice but no tuna sashimi. 5 minutes before our end time, we got 1 order ( 2 pieces) when we're supposed to get at least 10 pieces. Asked at the end and the stress shrugged it off. Either they didn't have stock or it is more expensive than the other fish so they didn't want to give us. Either way, that definitely deserves at least 1 star removed from my review. Would return but will definitely be more pro-active with ordering heaps at the beginning and pushing for the...
