The first and only vegetarian Korean restaurant in Brisbane (and probably Australia)! This restaurant was definitely a surprise find on google. We were in the vicinity and didn't know what we could eat so after a quick google search we stumbled upon this humble Korean restaurant. As you walk into the restaurant you're greeted with an open kitchen. It's very clean and a delight to see the chef prepare your meal. As we sat down we immediately noticed the vibrant menu on the table. It had delicious looking dishes on the menu which definitely assisted us in deciding what to eat. After some debating between ourselves, we decided to have the mandu, agedashi tofu, kimchi omelette, curry rice and the stone bowl bibimbap. For drinks we had miso and the house made soda apple and lemonade flavoured.
The drinks were very well made. They were flavourful yet not overly sweet. It complemented the dishes perfectly with their fruity flavour. - 5/5
Miso soup - what a miso soup should taste like. It's not too salty and not too bland. Delicious - 5/5
Agedashi tofu - the tofu was swimming in a nice soy sauce broth nicely balanced with a bit of sugar. It was mouth watering and definitely not as salty as the other agedashi tofu I've had. A must try if you're there. - 5/5
Mandu - wow wow wow! I've never ever had such delicious dumplings before in my life! The dumpling skin were crunchy and with each bite the fillings would burst our of the crispy skin. The fillings were delectable and the chives inside was not overpowering at all. It was definitely delicious and I would get it again the next time I'm there. - 5/5
Curry rice - the curry rice came with Tempura vegetables on the side. The curry sauce was on point and the Tempura vegetables were fried to perfection. We later learnt from the owner that he actually makes the curry sauce himself! - 5/5
Kimchi omelette - this came with a delicious omelette coving the rice. The flavours were bold and the sauce that came with it was spicy and sweet at the same time. When I ate it with the rice and egg it mixed beautifully in my mouth and it just made me want to eat more and more. I think this dish could be improved if there were a bit of vegetables added into the rice itself. - 4/5
Stone bowl bibimbap - great flavour profile. The fun part is mixing everything together in the bowl. The chilli sauce it came with certainly gave it a good punch. A bit spicy but you can decide how much chilli you want to add. - 4/5
This is beyond a doubt the best Korean restaurants I have ever been to. I used to avoid going to Korean restaurants as the number of vegetarian dishes they served were limited. I'm so happy we discovered this little gem. This little gem of a restaurant has certainly gained a spot in my heart. I can't wait to be back to try more dishes! I can't wait to see what new and inventive dishes they bring out in the...
Read moreI DARE say this is the ONLY(and BEST) ALL vegetarian Korean restaurant in SE QLD (maybe even in Australia-correct me if I’m wrong). To be completely honest I’ve never had a taste for Korean food, I would even avoid Korean restaurants purposefully because I’ve never had a good experience at one. Ordering veg food in a Korean restaurant is tough and the food I’ve ordered has never been good in my opinion. However, my thoughts about Korean cuisine has completely changed after visiting Minari!!
The food was presented exactly as the images on the menu and every dish was punched full of flavour - it was extremely delicious! The menu is not extensive which is something we liked because that usually means they can take more care with each dish.
The kitchen was open plan in style which means you can see the chef cooking! We were situated at the back so we did not see the process but I am sure many people would enjoy this!
We ordered:
Miso soup 5/5 - Exactly the way miso soup should taste, full of flavour not too salty and not too bland. On point!
Mandu 5/5 - Perfectly crispy on the outside, delicious savoury flavour, the chives were not over powering, the filling was absolutely sensational. This dish is a must try for anyone visiting!!! This was better than any Chinese dumpling or Japanese gyoza I’ve ever had.
Agedashi tofu 5/5 - The soy sauce was slightly sweeter than the usual Japanese dish but we enjoyed the flavour, it was different.
Curry rice 5/5 - The curry base was bold with a sweet after taste to it, you can tell the effort that was put into this sauce. The tempura that came with it was perfectly fried. Sensational!
Bibimbap 4/5 - Great flavour profile, loved the chilli sauce that came with it, a bit spicy but you can gauge the amount to put in.
Omurice 4/5 - Beautifully made omelette on top of the rice, delicious with well balanced bold flavours. Only thing that would have made this more enjoyable is if there were some veggies within the rice.
The drinks were both house made and it was fantastic, not too sweet! Apple punch 5/5 Lemonade 5/5
So glad we stumbled upon this little gem in Southport Central and we will certainly be recommending this restaurant to our family and friends. We wish this restaurant every success and hope many more people would visit this place. We will absolutely be back...
Read morekorean cuisine is one of my top favorite cuisines, because it is so diverse! from KBBQ to soul warming noodle and rice dishes, i love it all🥹🫶🏻we travelled to the coast to visit the beautiful @minari.southport to try out their popular ‘soban’ dish sets!✨
we got their✨🍽️:
🔥kimchi-jjim soban 🍖pork gom-tang soban ☕️iced latte 🍹green grape ade
firstly… how stunning and minimalistic is their presentation🥹🤧the gasp i let out when the dishes arrived- soban means individual dining sets in korean, so the set comes with a main dish, rice/noodles, soup, and little side dishes!🤩🥰the kimchi-jjim was so flavorful and had a spicy kick to it, such a generous serving of pork too🔥
my favourite had to be their pork gom-tang though, the broth in this was unreal and tasted so homey🥹🫶🏻you can add how much spice you want in it too! their side dishes were lovely and i inhaled each one🤤they also have lovely drinks like their green grape ade and yummy coffee from...
