Yum Cha Robina — Restaurant in Gold Coast City

We dined here as a group of 4. The staff were quite lovely during the majority of our visit. The food in general was no better than if you microwaved frozen food or bought the same items from a fast food shop in the food court.

Unfortunately, the prawns in 2 of the dishes we ordered were extremely rotten, to the point that the entire table smelt like rotting seafood when one of the prawn dumplings was opened. None of the prawn dumplings were consumed as they were clearly inedible. Two of us had already consumed one pork & prawn dumpling each however decided not to consume the rest of the prawn and pork dumplings due to concerns about the food safety of the prawns. Everyone at the table loves seafood & eat this type of food often however the smell was so foul that half of us were put off eating anything else as a result.

We politely told the staff when we finished our meal and pointed out that we didn’t consume any of one prawn dish and were unable to finish the second. Rather than apologise or investigate the issue, the staff argued excessively with us, insisting that it is “not possible” for any of the food to be bad. This is an extremely concerning attitude to have when 4 customers are all telling you how concerned they are about the safety of serving certain items.

After just a ridiculous amount of back and forth “discussion” which included two members of staff speaking in another language and laughing at us, the staff eventually agreed not to charge for the rotten food and we left.

To absolutely no one’s surprise at all, the two of us who consumed a dumpling with prawns in it, later became violently ill with classic food poisoning symptoms which lasted until the next day, and the two who ate no prawns were fine.

I would avoid this place at all costs as they clearly have absolutely no regard for food safety and care more about making an additional $8.80 than protecting the health and safety of...

I have eaten here pre covid. Last night I ordered take away for myself and husband. We ordered roast duck, roast pork, ma po tofu and special fried rice for $70. We were shocked and insulted that this restaurant would serve us such terrible food. There is no excuse to send such food out of the kitchen. It was clear the pork and duck were not cooked yesterday. Both dishes were reheated good from goodness knows when. You could tell by the colour of the meat and the overcooked texture due to being reheated. Shameful. The ma po tofu was in a tasteless watery liquid with less mince than my cat’s mince sachet. there was nothing special about the pale tasteless fried rice. All the dishes were so salty they could have been cured in salt. No Chinese restaurant we have ever eaten in ( all over the world) has ever treated its customers with such disdain. It’s hard to get any decent Chinese food in the Gold Coast, but Yum Cha takes the prize for the most expensive bad Chinese food. The food was great but the service wasn't it has a lot left to be desired, there was 3 front of house staff for 4 tables including ours, we had to ask for food and drinks and condiments and we over heard the other tables having to do the same but Robina is the better Restaurant to eat at.

We now only go to the Robina Restaurant as it's sister Restaurant at Pacific Fair brings out cold or under cooked food and after complaining to the staff we didn't even get an apology from any staff or management nor did we get a discount on our bill. Considering we had 2 separate servings of food that came out raw and NOT cooked, even though the staff tried saying that the raw look was food colouring to which I replied that is raw meat and NOT food colouring and I do know the difference as my mum was an Asian cooking instructor and i'm also Restaurant trained in Asian cooking as well.

If the staff in the Robina restaurant just were trained in customer service and be more concious about the needs of the customers Robina would be...
