Bento Sandy Bay — Restaurant in Hobart

On August 5,2023, I went to Bento’s Sandy Bay and ordered A Bento box of seafood as we are pescatarians. The lady took my order and I told her I don’t want meat in it as we don’t eat it, she then told me that the bento box has prawns on it with no meat. So I paid for the order of $17 something. I waited for my Oder on the table, when it arrive I took it without checking and went home. When I got home and opened my order , it had rice, beef and couple of prawns and mushroom. I rang the restaurant and told them about it, the lady who took my order said she will refund me. I didn’t drive all the way to Sandy bay to return the foods as I was too tired from working all day. The next day I went to the restaurant and reminded her of my call, she said she refunded me. She told me if I want something in the bento box I need to be more specific which I already told her the night before, My only mistake was I didn’t check my order before I left. I ended up paying $33 more for new order and no refund. It would have been easier if she just gave me the equivalent amount of foods on my return. I messaged her again this week with no responses. It’s been 21 days with no refund or courtesy message. I did all of those before writing this review. I’m really disappointed, it’s a small amount but I wish they are better in handling customer’s complaints as I’m a regular customer. I don’t...

Our family came here once on our second night in Tasmania for dinner and had to come back around a second time for lunch because it was just so good! We had the classic ramen, classic black ramen, beef udon, custom dinner box, eel donburi, fried chicken curry, eel roll, salmon sashimi, salmon aburi, jellyfish salad, and more assorted sushi. It was absolutely amazing! The flavours perfect and the presentation was beautiful, at a very reasonable price point. The ramen noodles were made fresh at a small station at the back of the restaurant too! It was hard to believe that there was so much Japanese variety, yet all done so well. The only downside was that their onsen eggs were sold out both times we went, and the service was a little slow on the Friday night, but apart from that, we cannot fault anything else. We highly recommend everything on the menu and the staff were so friendly and accomodating both times. The restaurant itself is beautiful and the decor is very picturesque. We would most definitely come back again and again! Please make an effort to visit here at least once!...

This is usually a great place, but the last two times the food has been brought out either warm or room temperature. Part way through I am thinking: Why am I eating this? I find it hard to know what to do in this situation. This time I asked: Should this be hot? They agreed it should be. They offered a refund, and I accept.

(There used to be a great manager who left several months ago, and maybe the place is showing the lack of his charisma and quality control).
