What an absolute gem of a place. We walked past, liked the look of the interior and the goods in the display cabinet, and promised ourselves we would be back to sample the pastries. We managed to stop in on the last day of our stay in Battery Point and found this an absolute delight. We shared the Hazelnut Dacquoise and the Concorde and enjoyed every, scrumptious morsel. Aside from the wonderful baked goods and the welcoming chairs, the standout part of our visit there was the service, especially that from the manager. He was friendly, warm and hospitable without being intrusive. He was more than patient with us while we couldn't decide what to choose, offering suggestions and giving us enough time while we debated. We left with a Rosewater & Pistachio Meringue - a lovely surprise gift from the manager as he had noticed our admiring glances at this delicacy. All in all, absolutely recommend Daci & Daci for a special interlude, at any...
Read moreHad a hazelnut Dacquoise and it was sadly stale- inedible. In Sandy Bay. "Roasted hazelnut meringue sponge, crisp dark chocolate & fluffy praline buttercream" This quote is taken from your website. If the praline buttercream was light and fluffy , I will eat my hat, it was very hard and tasted on the turn. I did express to the staff that it was not fresh, but not much response. It should have been absolutely delicious as described!! PS I walked by the shop that evening and a number of cakes were still out after shop closure- I wonder how many days this happens? I will reiterate- it was Sandy Bay, not Hobart. I tried to cut the cake with a fork- this was impossible!I didn't simply touch with my finger....................... I love food, have eaten in lovely restaurants all around the world, I think I know a stale cake when presented with it! We gave the uneaten cake back to staff with...
Read moreClassy little cafe on the street corner. The cakes in the windows were eye catching and drew us in. The man behind the counter was very welcoming (in a genuine way) and immediately sat us down and took our orders. The cakes all looked superb and it was hard to choose. I shared a Concorde, which was a rich chocolate mousse bordered with rolled chocolate meringue. Lovely to share with a partner or friend as it is quite rich. My other friends ordered Portuguese tart and a tiramisu which were apparently very delicious too. The coffees and hot chocolates were also great. The atmosphere was bright and classy, with a marble table, large windows, and attractive wall paneling which had a very classic French/European Patisserie Shop feel (atmosphere is very important to me when choosing a cafe) . I would definitely come again, and recommend to couples and friends as a nice little spot for a...
