It’s been many years since we dined at a Hog’s Breath Cafe but had enjoyed many memorable evenings at a Hog’s Breath Cafe that was local to us on the main land. Although a far cry from being a stellar dining experience. You could always expect good value for money and a fun, friendly, dining experience. So after recently moving to Hobart, my family of three were understandably excited to revisit an old favourite and see whether or not this could become a regular place to dine with visiting friends and family.
However our dining experience at Hogs Breath Hobart was disappointing and underwhelming. The “Hog Spitality” which the franchise seem to mention in all their social media posts was non existent. We had to request to be given menus and had to go up and collect our own drinks despite slides on the tv screens promoting their full table service. We ate during a quiet period of the evening yet our three meals took 80 minutes to arrive. We were not advised of any wait times at any stage of the evening. The steak was cooked as requested and was adequate as far as taste. However the sides were very bland. The chicken wrap was also disappointing being abseloutely drenched in dressing and falling apart in the hand. We attempted to provide feedback upon payment however the staff member at the till was fairly disinterested. Worth mentioning our experience wasn’t exactly what I would call good value for money either, many of their meals carry a price tag which suggest far more effort needs to be put into the customer dining experience. Regarding parking we were fortunate enough to snag a park out the front, however parking would be an issue for many with the current arrangement.
I can’t help but feel Hogs Breath Cafe is on borrowed time in Hobart if they continue to provide a soulless atmosphere, inadequate service, and mediocre food. Hobart is booming with wonderful restaurants and eateries and I would much rather spend my hard earned at places that take pride in the service and product that they deliver.

Read moreWorst dining experience in quite some time. I'm usually not one to write bad reviews or complain at all but the service we received last night was appalling. There were several large tables who had clearly all booked for dinner (if they've booked you should be able to roster accordingly). We were on time for our booking at 6.30pm, it wasn't until 7pm that someone came to take our orders. Even drink orders weren't offered until one of our group went to the bar to order. We had two children dining with us, they took the order for the 5 year old but skipped over the toddler. Another person in our group asked for a kids fish and chips because he saw she had been missed. Meals took over an hour to arrive at the table, including kids meals - any good restaurant I've dined at serves kids meals fast or at least asks if that is the preference. My partner had the duo, the steak was tough (ordered medium rare) and ribs lacked flavour and had no sauce at all. I had the fish and chips which were exceptionally bland. Not worth the wait. Also the meal for the toddler (who was originally missed) was served as an adult size - they did correct this by removing from the bill thankfully. No drinks were cleared from the table so we had at least 12 empty cups/bottles on the table when meals came out. We did not order desserts as we watched a much smaller table order and wait over half an hour for some sundaes. This is not good enough. We will not be back to Hogs Hobart... We visited Launceston a couple of months ago and their service was...
