2 stars are for the chefs efforts. We booked a table for four to celebrate my birthday and were happy to receive the free prawn cocktail—it was actually really yum. Unfortunately, the rest of the food was pretty average. We ordered the half dozen oysters as an entrée, but they were the smallest oysters we’ve ever seen. At $23, it wasn’t outrageous, but still disappointing. We also ordered the mixed seafood bag for $189 and asked for egg to be included, but it wasn’t. The biggest letdown was the garlic butter sauce—it was nothing like the rich, buttery seafood boils we’re used to in NZ. The sauce had a gluey, almost clear texture, and it was obvious they’d thickened it with corn starch. It just didn’t taste good. To make things worse, the receipt didn’t even match what we paid for. The pricing wasn’t transparent at all, which left us feeling ripped off. In total, we spent over $400 and honestly, it wasn’t worth it. I wouldn’t recommend this place unless you’ve never had a proper seafood boil before. I could’ve made a much better one at home, no question. If you’re after a quality seafood boil, I’d definitely suggest going somewhere else. Total waste of money here.

UTTERLY DISAPPOINTED!! walked in hungry, came out hungry ALL YOU CAN EAT PROMOTION IS FALSE ADVERTISEMENT walked in 6pm, first food came in after 30mins as per photos time stamp. Waited 1 hour for the second order ALL YOU CAN EAT still hasn't arrived, talked to the manager ILEY, he mentioned theyve just started cooking it, its been well passed the "strict" 90mins window and we only have received a small bag of food. As per photos time stamp. Still got charged $70 for a small bag of food, they even managed to get the orders wrong, beer also tasted stale and old. The manager even threatened to call the police, we are still already hungry and passed the 90mins time and we offered to pay half but got told me needed to pay full price for a promotion that we didnt recieved. "ALL YOU CAN EAT " Understaffed 1 running the floor taking order and one behind the counter, lots of other customers are also disappointed with the wait time, by the looks of it there are only 2 kitchen staff and they look like their struggling. We deserve the service that we paid for, we clearly need a refund. Otherwise I will take further action.

Greeted by lovely staff upon arrival and got given a choice on where to sit. Ordered a small prawn bag and half an Alaskan snow crab. Received a prawn cocktail as an opening bonus, which was quite nice and very generous. The shell on the crab was soft, and so it was difficult to open with the pliers. Was not given scissors to help. The food was flavoursome. I ordered a mudcake for dessert. After seeing the waiter place it down, cause he couldn't find the table number, I witnessed multiple flies land on the dessert. I requested a new dessert, which was then given to me quickly. It was served on a paper plate with a wooden spoon. Felt like I was in kindy again... was not impressed with the quality. I had to eat on the table which was covered in seafood and sauce, as the staff didn't change the table. Overall experience, it was a nice experience, a bit more training won't go astray. I understand it was the opening night. For the price, I can't particularly justify paying an exorbitant amount for the food we received. It was very over priced.

We had a 7:30pm booking, were directed to table 11 by a woman behind the counter and told to make our way there our selves. We had to ask for the seats to be wiped down as they were dirty with grease and food. We then waited for approximately 10 minutes for menus till I just got up and got our own. We were surrounded by dirty tables that were dirty prior to us entering the restaurant. We also seemed to be the second last guests of the night. We then had to wave down a waitress and order our drinks. While waiting for our drinks, being 3 drinks, I watched Bailey who was the shift manager behind the bar just standing around not actually doing anything. After the 15 mins of waiting and watching I proceeded to the bar and requested our drinks which were table water, a jug of coke and a glass of of red wine Bailey was unable to find our ticket, and it was sitting on the counter in front of him which I pointed out. I advised him how poor it was that he was just standing around not actually doing anything and he had three tickets waiting. He then had the audacity to attempt to argue with myself stating that he was the only one behind the bar and he had to take payments as well. I advised over the course of the 15 minutes of waiting for our drinks I watched him stand there for significant periods where he was not actually doing anything at all. Not even restocking the ice or putting away bottles and tidying up the front of house.

Then the table water we requested he filled up from the back wall sink I asked if we could have cold water and he responded with well it’s going to take longer. Then due to not having multiple hands I requested a tray to carry my own drinks back to the table he was unable to locate a tray. How does a restaurant bar not have any trays on hand? I also noticed the state of the bar being that half of the items offered were out of stock and not communicated to the waitress, and even the ice box was empty something every bar knows is something at a minimum you keep restocked on a Saturday night.

Honestly if the food had not arrived when I returned to the table I was going to advised my guests that we were leaving. And we honestly should have.

The adults food had arrived just as I returned to the table with the last of our drinks but yet the childs meal of pasta did not arrive at the same time and we had to wait for it and actually request a waitress as to where it was. With ordering crabs we were not provided with anything to assist in eating the crab, we then had to order once again wave down a waitress and request a crab pick and other items to eat the crab with only to be told sorry we do not have any and we can give you a wooden pick and a single butter knife to cut the crab claws. We then had to request a second one as having to use a butter knife to cut crab claws was bad enough we didn’t need to share it.

If we had of known this we would not have ordered the crab. (Also we were not provided with everything as we were missing half a crab and were not provided the full amount of other items we ordered in our make your own bag).

Also during our meal a lady fell, as I have a background in assisting situations like this i attended to the woman as Bailey the shift manager had no clue in how to assist her and I had to request something with sugar as a lemonade to provide her with some sugar as she was feeling dizzy after she fell.

Not one staff member stayed with her ensuring she was ok even Bailey the manager walked away leaving my self a customer to assist her.

How is this acceptable?

Also the state of the restaurant was unacceptable, I’m not just speaking about food on the floor or on the seats I’m also speaking about the fact that either there was no room to get into the booths or out of the booths, or the complete opposite and you were sitting so far away from the table in the booth you couldn’t reach your food.

We could not wait to leave.

We will never return to this restaurant and do not recommend it at all.

For a meal that cost $189 for three people you...

MAKE SURE WHAT YOU GET ADDS UP TO WHAT THEY SAY YOU GETTTT so many things not avalible on menu very sketchy when she tells you at the start what was missing for more to be missing when order comes out Will not be coming back avoid never got what we ordered waited an insane time for emty restrant very slopy service friendly but soo slopy you pay alot of money so youd expect good service and all the food you pay for.

Booked table for 6.30 with a baby and kids screaming for food and didnt eat till 8.30 which was weird because dead quiet all night only 3 customers but waited 2 hours we had to ask for cutlery and cups multiple times. Weird we waited 2hours on an emty restrant when they said lt only take 8 mins to steam a bag. Our order came out before the kids order we asked where kids food would be for them to bring ours out first after kids waited 2 hours for fried food Then our order came out with halve of the order missing aparently no lobster no cray no this no that most of the menu was gone for a week day night thats suspisious our bag came out with 10 prawns and 2 bugs we paid the 270 for crab and 10 bugs lobster the lot they said we dont have that why didnt you say that before l ordered then gave us crab with no meat in lt like litrally all the food had been eatten out of them deffs not soft shell stage either because claws where already cracked and meat eaten from them we ordered corn and potatoes and extra corn and never saw them for most of the food to not be in the bag made us soo angry for the 2 hour emty restrant wait then when they dumped lt they stole that fun from the kids who had been waiting 2 hours to do so who where keen all night to tip the bags out onto the tables

The drinks where weird the cocktails came in a scooner glass with so much syrup lt was scull or waste no garnishes

Then chefs/ waiters parnter by whats the look of lt was waiting for a free meal by door for the last hour of the night over heard just have to wait the hour for a free meal ontop of them swearing casualy and all over the place looked to be intoxicated by something for 3 customers they seemed all over the place l think whoever owns this place needs to investergate whos working thursday night the 11th.. 2 males 1 female male chef didnt even have a beard net on so health and food saftey need to be in for an assement.🤮🤮 Beacuse to pay 270 to receive horrible food horrible service to get only a 10% discount for that to not even matter when your surcharge an extra 10% surcharge on card anyways is disgusting

Seems like others saying similar things and just getting generic replys back deffs being handled by people not doing the right thing everything seemed and looked too sketchy for a fancy restrant as lf behind scenes the cook was stealing what they arent putting into the bags and people just not realising and going oh ok yep thats fine mealwhile head chefs and his friends score a good free feed while the customers suffer thats what lts looking like here AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID DO NOT WASTE YOUR HARD...

We went for dinner with our family. We had a booking for 8pm. We didn’t even sit down properly. We placed the order instantly because we knew they close at 9pm. But still, the food took forever. It was served like 40 to 45 minutes later, around quarter to 9 or even after that.

Even then, the food was incomplete. The birthday shrimp martini was missing and we had to tell the staff to get us one because they didn’t know we ordered one. We waited so long for it while everything else was being served. The potatoes were nearly raw. We didn’t say anything because it was already so late. But nothing was given properly. No gloves, no aprons, no tissues. And when we asked, they gave us the wrong sizes, so we had to find someone to get the right ones. It wasted so much time. We asked for tissues and they gave us 2 tissues when there was 4 people at the table. I asked for chilli powder or something to spice up the meal which we usually do get everytime but this time we were asked to buy extra spicy sauce when we just wanted more spice and not sauce.

The guy who usually stands at the front came over while we were still trying to eat and told us we only had 10 minutes left to eat and go. Because of this we couldn’t even finish everything before we left. We asked for crab crackers and the girl who came earlier said she would bring two. She disappeared for ages. Then the same guy came and again took forever. Then he came back and said they didn’t even have crackers. They were all in the wash. And gave us scissors instead. Scissors to crack crab. Are the staff not trained about basic customer safety? You’re giving people scissors to eat crab?

Before we even sat down properly someone came to clean under our table while we were there which means they didn’t even clean it before we arrived. It was dirty under the table. We asked to sit upstairs like we usually do but they said it was closed. So we respected that and sat downstairs but honestly this whole experience was pathetic.

We go here every month. We also go to the Sunnybank one and ever since the Ipswich one opened we’ve been coming here more. But this was the worst experience we’ve had at Kickin Inn. Never...
