I sought out this cafe after having read an article that mentioned that the owner makes moon cakes with a variety of fillings like red bean… I thought that was very cool. Now when found (it’s hidden away in a small alleyway that runs off Launceston’s Quadrant Mall), this Cafe is so delightful, as is the owner, who is just charming and humble. A new small business owner, she is a very talented baker. I tried her award winning Earl Grey cake, which was indeed a winner. The cafe is like an atrium, with sunlight streaming in through every nook. Loads of glass and high, vaulted ceilings set this Cafe apart from the everyday. It is wonderful just to be inside, let alone enjoy a drink - she does a few - and a piece of cake that’s almost a work of art. With different flavours other than the usual, such as Taro, Matcha and Earl Grey (again, award winning!) this Cake O’Clock Cafe deserves much fraternisation for sure. I spent a quite relaxing, delightful time there, with a coffee (pretty good) and albeit a small slice, a piece of that Earl Grey cake. I’m returning soon for the Taro and other flavours… and, to get away from the hustle and bustle (even though it is in Launceston, Tasmania!) for a half hour or so. Worth its weight in gold just for the relaxing nooks and crannies seating available there! It felt magical, sitting in...

I’ve been a loyal customer since they opened. Unfortunately, I had a bad experience with them on this occasion, which will stop me from going there again. I ordered a bday cake (8inch taro flavour) on Easter Monday. When I was ordering it via text messages, they sent me the menu, which clearly said $80 for 8inch. When I went to pick it up, they charged me $92 without explaining the $12 extra. They only pointed me the sign of “15% public holiday surcharge” when I asked why. It would have been nice and also common sense if they told me about the holiday surcharge when I was ordering the cake, especially multiple text messages were exchanged. Also, this is the ugliest cake I’ve ever had from them. Plain, boring and unappealing. Previously all the caked were decorated nicely with some fruits and even rosemaries as well as pearl beads. The cake I received this time is not an $80 cake, let alone I got charged $92. $92 for an 8inch ugly cake,...

I submitted a custom cake request 7 days ago (first photo) wanting a chocolate cake with white icing, the character and “happy birthday” as decorations. What I received was a brown icing cake that had, what I believe to be, matcha flavoured piping around the outside. Which that flavour was never mentioned or asked for. The flavour of the cake itself was subpar and almost tastes of a hot chocolate mix and the character looked nothing like the original photo. As seen in the photo of the cake I received, the fondant has been cut and applied poorly looking as though it was a last minute job. If this design was out of their reach, I would have preferred them decline the order and I could have...
