Design Tasmania — Attraction in Launceston

This is a terrific place to see the work of talented Tasmanian artisans all in one place. Some incredible pieces on display, representing thoughtful interpretations, innovative designs and perfect homage to the amazing (and rare) timbers of this tiny state. The warmth and depth of this natural resource is showcased perfectly across all of the pieces in the gallery, and the skills of the crafters are beautifully evident. Some interesting wooden pieces on permanent display. With a small retail sales area. When we visited there was a 'cement' exhibit also running. This place is quite different to how I remember it. I'm sure there used to be a much wider range of locally made Tasmanian wood products for sale. Now it seems to be more focused on the exhibition...
