Extremely disappointed — this used to be my favorite restaurant, but not anymore.
I’ve been a regular customer here for almost two years, visiting once or twice a week with my wife. It used to be one of our go-to places to eat in Launceston, but sadly, the food quality has gone downhill lately.
Before ordering today, I even mentioned to the waitress that the last couple of visits hadn’t been up to the usual standard, and I was hoping for the food to be as good as it used to be. My wife ordered Chicken Chowmein and Chilli Momo, while I ordered Chicken Jhol Momo.
The Chowmein was fine, but my Jhol Momo tasted very strange and sour. I even asked the waitress if the filling was chicken or buff, and she confirmed it was chicken. My wife tried one too and said it might be because of different spices or something . I was quite hungry, so I finished it anyway.
A couple of hours later, I started feeling sick — burping constantly, running to the toilet, and still tasting that sour chicken whenever I burp.
Since I’ve always liked this place, I called the restaurant to give honest feedback. But instead of listening to a loyal customer, the owner immediately said, “We sold 10 kg of chicken momo today and no one complained.” He didn’t seem willing to even consider the possibility that something went wrong or the chicken was undercooked.
Maybe he’s right and the chicken itself wasn’t bad, but it’s possible the kitchen staff didn’t cook it properly. Either way, I’m the one suffering for it now. Such a yukk feeling of the Momo filling still in my throat.
It’s disappointing because I’ve supported this restaurant for years, but after today’s experience, I won’t be returning. The food quality just isn’t what it used to be. The front-of-house staff are kind and polite, but it feels like the kitchen has lost its standard — whether it’s unqualified staff or pressure from too many orders, it’s leading to poorly cooked food being served and the worst part is , I am suffering and the owner is just not ready to believe that something went wrong. Why would I fake now after eating in your restaurant for so long ?...
Read moreSherpa Nepalese Restaurant offers an authentic taste of Nepal, and our experience with their Nepali Thali Set was nothing short of exceptional. The Thali Set was a beautifully presented platter that showcased the rich and diverse flavors of Nepalese cuisine.
The set included a variety of dishes, each prepared with care and authenticity. The dal (lentil soup) was hearty and flavorful, the tarkari (vegetable curry) was perfectly spiced, and the meat curry (we chose chicken & Goat Curry) was tender and aromatic. The accompaniments, such as rice, pickles, and papad, added layers of flavor and texture, making every bite a delightful experience. The portions were generous, and the balance of spices was impeccable.
The restaurant itself is cozy and welcoming, with décor that reflects Nepalese culture and hospitality. The staff were friendly, attentive, and happy to explain the dishes, enhancing the overall dining experience.
Sherpa Nepalese Restaurant is a must-visit for anyone looking to explore authentic Nepalese cuisine. The Nepali Thali Set is a standout dish that captures the heart of Nepal’s culinary heritage. We left with full bellies and happy hearts, already planning our next visit. Highly...
Read moreAs others, we went here by seeing the reviews and here I am posting one beacuse of the great taste I have experieced and wanting others to have a go at it. :)) We ate chicken thali, momos and both were very good. My 2 year old also ate chicken, lentils, ghee and rice who is a fussy eater. The taste of the food is next level and I think it is best in Launceston from what I have experienced. Restaurant is little small and the only minor issue we faced is as it was hot day and AC was not working. Hope it is fixed now :))
Personal suggestion: May be it is better not to serve momo achar in the thali instead we can have something like poleko tomato ko achar or nothing and also natural greek yogurt from Farmers Union would have been better than the served one.
Please extend your taste in the Melbourne side as well so that we can enjoy the delicious food.
Please maintain the quality of the food. Quality goes the long...
