Schnitty Bar — Restaurant in Launceston

My partner and I went to Schnitty Bar yesterday for our last dinner in Tasmania, following a wonderful road trip around the state. We were greeted by friendly staff and ordered our food promptly. Our anticipation for an early dinner soon turned into impatience, then annoyance, as we waited for more than 45 minutes for our two dishes to arrive. The restaurant itself was not that busy as it was a Monday night, and the schnitzels themselves tasted pretty standard - nothing special, especially for a schnitzel joint. Prices were okay for the portion sizes.

All in all, a below average experience, not solely due to the lateness of our food, but also due to the lack of acknowledgement of said delays. A simple time estimate for dishes when the kitchen is understaffed and/or the restaurant is busy would more effectively set customer expectations - upon hearing that the food would take 45 minutes to come out, we would’ve opted to order takeaway or eaten somewhere else. Alternatively, an apology for the wait would’ve been appreciated. Considering that neither of these things were done, I would not recommend this place to others, nor would I...

This was our first time at the Yorktown Square restaurant. We were greeted and seated with our menus. Not too busy in the restaurant 6 tables with customers but 3 has already eaten. Uber seemed to be a priority as the waitress and waiter came back and forth. Our order was taken without eye contact, about 10 -15 mins after we sat, this included our drinks. 1 beer and 1 can of Coke. 15 mins later no drinks. We asked if we could have them and a few mins later the lovely excites brought them over with an apology. She was flat out - online orders it seemed. The ladies next to us got their meal with no cutlery. They got up and asked for done. When ours arrived 15-20 mins later again no cutlery - we had to ask too. When leaving ( average meal / in stark contrast to when we ate at the invermay shop - delicious!) we were asked if we liked our meal, my husband was asked by the guy who had previously took our order with no eye contact, how was things. My husband was honest and said maybe next time give the drinks a bit quicker? The waiter replied. Yeah sorry I was dealing with other complaints!! Should this be his answer? Big...

What can I say, not worth the money paid, nor the hype that this place tries to put forward. To start with no where is it stated that this place is not BYO allowed. Ordered Cuban schnitzel on a plate and what arrived was not what was stated on the menu. Was supposed to be served with dill cucumbers but came out with the bright green gherkins you get at your nana’s Christmas lunch, the chicken was luke warm at best and burnt around the edges. The sauerkraut was flavourless. The Korean chicken special was only Korean in look and not in taste. Save your money and go somewhere else. And yes this was report to the manager which said that she had only been there 2 months. This doesn’t excuse the meal we were served and all she did was to say “Sorry you aren’t happy with your meal” and walk off, even after she was told that I would be leaving a review!!!! We didn’t even finish all of our meals, they were that bad!!! Bad management and terrible meals. Has to be one of the worst places we have eaten...
