When you go to a restaurant that the decor still looks like the 70,s you don't have high expectations in terms of contemporary food. At least you expect, big portions, tasty at a reasonable price. Having said that this place could not even achieve that. Dispassionately here is a summary. Don't sit next to the front door as it slams each time someone comes in . Whilst waiting for our food, the owner behaved condescendingly and frankly bloody appalling to a lady sitting on her own who understandably was not happy with her food. Our food came and the size of a small pizza was criminal. My pasta sauce tasted nice, but the pasta itself was not hand made, if it was they need to re educate themselves. The tortellini in brodo was poor. The pizza bases were un proved, and white underneath. They tried to charge $2 for some chilli flakes, a surcharge on card and $3.50 sunday surcharge was added. The reality is they have a captive audience and exploit it terribly. It seems the customer focus is still in the 70,s., As a restaurant owner I would not sleep at night knowing I ripped off my customers, similarly to what I...
Read moreWalked through the door and my first thought was that it seemed really cosy in the traditional Italian style.
Despite half the tables being empty, there was no one attending to incoming customers. There was a queue at the counter, but they were all holding menus and talking about what they were ordering. Waited a minute or so and there was no movement on the queue. During this time, I'd watched two waitresses chatting. So I went up to them and asked about a table to be seated at. One lady looked at me like I was stupid and told me to get back on the queue. I felt dismissed while she went back to chatting with her colleague.
We left and won't return.
Look, for all I know the waitresses were discussing work. Doesn't matter. I came in to spend money and the least one of them might have done is point me at an empty table and ask if that will serve....
Read moreBeautiful food and restaurant, however unfortunately this has been soured as of late as la cantina has risen their already high-end prices around $2.50-5 per meal. This would not be an issue, however the restaurant crafts mainly pasta based dishes which are quite cheap from a wholesale point of view, also dining in was already $2.50-5 more per meal for no apparent reason. Don't get me wrong, great food and atmosphere, however at one time me and my partner would avoid competition such as the prickly cactus due to high prices, last week we thought it much cheaper and more beneficial to head their instead.
Pasta dishes should not be $31 takeaway and $34 for dine in service, it's simply unsustainable and I'll will toward regular patrons. Although the food is nice, it's not worth getting a dine in charge after already have...
