Mid sized restaurant close to CBD. Came here with friends for the first time. We were very impressed. All the food was very well prepared and presented. Duck was tender and tasty with a nice skin that could have been a little more crunchier. The Kung Pao chicken was my favourite. So many different subtle flavours. It was a delight to eat. We also loved the Salted egg chicken spare ribs. A little dry so a dipping sauce would have been perfect. We also had Beef Rendang, Gado Gado, and Acha. Deserts were Sago with coconut milk and palm sugar and Taro ice cream. Both very nice and not overly sweet. Overall a great experience. We will Be back. Set us back about $165 which included 1 root beer and a bottle of white wine.

Ayam Chef simple Malaysian cuisine. I have been here for lunch and dinner and the quality of food and service has always been fantastic. After taking my family here, it has become one of my family favourite restaurants!. There are so many great dishes but some of our favourites are chow hor fun, 5 spice chicken ribs, san low fried bee hoon, fried kueh teow and curry laksa! 👌🏻👌🏻(Just to name a few) New dish Kam Hiong clams wow soo yummy and delicious. The restaurant has a great atmosphere! And is always buzzing with diners as there are indoor and limited outdoor seating arrangement. A shout out to Connie and the Ayam chef team! Keep up the fantastic work and the delicious food you provide. Will see you soon!

I'm not a big fan of Malaysian food but this restaurant offers great delicious dishes. It's has become one of my favourites go to restaurant. My all time favourite dishes are the Steamed Beanshoots, Salted Egg Chicken Ribs, Wasabi Mayo Pork, and Cereals Prawns. Now I can also added the Roti to my favourite dish. There are two sauces to accompany the roti; the peanut sauce and the curry sauce. I'm not so keen on their Dumplings, they are okay. We also ordered the Sizzling Beef with Black Pepper Sauce. I'm not liking this dish. Overall, this restaurant offers us great foods and great service. The price is also right. It's feel like I'm eating at home.

Yet to be widely discovered this well located Malaysian delight rose above expectations. Popular with office staff within the precinct it stayed under the radar. Washrooms were spotless, an anecdotal indication of quality of a cafe. Ayam Chef feels more like a full fledged restaurant judging from the quality of its ingredients. How often do you find okra slices embedded in a lemon grass chicken dish? This attention to detail sets it apart from all the others. It is a top notch Malaysian eatery worth a drive just outside the CBD. Prices are very reasonable with plenty of parking just street side. A rare find made our day.

The laksa was ok here but I feel was a bit bland for the price. The dish was covered in what I assume were bean curd sheets but didn’t really taste like anything and had quite a flaccid texture. Many Malaysian restaurants put eggplant / okra or other veggies in their laksas but here it was 70% noodles 15% broth and 15% ingredients. It just didn’t feel like a lot of care had gone into this dish. There was a lack of the usual herbs that top a laksa and while the addition of an egg was nice the other ingredients were a let down - gristly chicken and small prawns.

Order the sizzling tofu and the san low bee hoon. The unique aspect of this plate of noodles is the charred exterior that’s evident in every bite. I suspect they press noodles at the very end to create a slightly crispy noodle texture, while also infusing a strong “wok hei” (smell of the wok). Just amazing stuff. I’ll be back for this. ⠀ Food is slightly pricey, but the restaurant ambience is really nice and it’s a very clean restaurant. Perfect for group dinners, despite the absence of round tables. Probably one of the best Malaysian restaurants in town
