Strolling down Sydney Road and feeling peckish? The Barkley Kitchen is the spot where your taste buds go on holiday and don’t want to come back. From the get-go, the staff were on a mission – to make us feel like royalty, or at least well-fed peasants. They went above and beyond with smiles that could probably fix global warming. The menu? Wild. It’s like they let a food-loving mad scientist loose, and I mean that in the best way possible. We ordered two pasta-filled cob loaves (because if carbs in carbs isn’t a life choice, it should be) and a spicy Parma, because "spicy Parma" is my love language. Oh, and cocktails! Non-alcoholic for the kid and two fiery ones for me and the missus – because what’s better than pasta? Pasta with a buzz. While waiting, we got to watch other people’s food parade past us, and trust me, the food looked so good we considered pretending it was ours. Then our feast arrived, and it was like being punched in the face by flavor – homely, hearty, and the kind of filling that makes you question whether you're hungry or just being greedy. Spoiler: we were greedy. And then, the bell. Yes, there’s a bell on the door as you leave, and when you ring it, it’s basically telling the kitchen, “You’re a legend, and we love you.” Everyone was ringing it like it was a dinner bell at Hogwarts. Naturally, we rang it too – multiple times, because once wasn’t enough to express our joy. Long story short: come hungry, leave happy, and definitely ring the bell. It’s not optional.

Came here on a Wednesday when they had $15 chicken Parma specials. First time having loaded Parmas and it was different. The size of the parmas were average, it definitely looks a lot bigger on social media. Full of cheese, toppings were decent amount however, the chicken crumbs could have been crunchier. Besides that, it was still enjoyable as it tasted like a pizza however, instead of the dough you gave a chicken schnitzel. The porterhouse was decent, mushroom was nice however, could have given us more. We ordered two servings of mushroom sauce and for some reason they had different consistency and colour. The Green Pesto with homemade ricotta gnocchi was definitely our favorite item of the order. Cheesy and full of flavour. Would only come back on a Wednesday for the $15 Parma’s and order two, for the size we wouldn’t pay more than $15.

So this is my second time coming to this restaurant we made reservations and when we entered the lady at the front said hi how can l help you, I found that slightly unusual and advised her l had a reservation to where she pointed her finger and said sit over there. We ordered drinks appetizer to start with and main meals as per photos, mocktail was literally a sprite with lemon. The food was good just throughout the experience the workers serving from start seemed un interested very displaced and not friendly at all, even at the end when l paid there was no thank you or how was your meal or have a good night it felt so cold and it seemed as though the workers didn't want to be there. Customer service definitely needs improvement.

Eh. Honestly found it a bit overpriced for what it was. $37.9 for a salmon dish and tbh it just felt really lazy. The salmon was bordering on overcooked and it sat on a bed of "crushed potatoes", which bore a texture comparison to soggy chips. And apart from a light smattering of spinach this was as interesting as this dish got. I understand that salmon isn't cheap but this just felt so incredibly unimaginative AND I was still hungry after. I'm not even a big eater. I felt like a lot more could have been done with this dish, especially for the price. People warn you, don't get salmon if it's the only seafood dish on the menu. In this case they were right. Service was lovely, no complaints there.

I had been here for dinner. I liked the place and the food here. I tried the spicy chicken parma and Berklys Fettuccine on cob. Both were delicious. I am sure the other items on the menu tasted the same. They have really good service and made sure the customers are happy and served food quickly without much delay. I recommend reserving the table early or may be on busy hours at least. They have a small space inside and a few seats outside. I didn't like the outside table, especially because it was cold and right at the busy street intersection. The heater was missing there.
