The day was sunny but the wind was icy, so today I dined in for breakfast at Ecco on the corner of Nicholson Street and Victoria Parade (note you can enter via either way). The place was flat out busy, with people dressed in business attire, getting their fix of food / coffee / muffins etc. This place is large and ideal for business meetings, although I imagine it can be noisy due to its size. Today however, I found myself a quiet corner after ordering a potato rosti which brocollini, bacon and two poached eggs. It came with the most delicious hollandaise sauce, tom tomatos and radish. The portion size was excellent. Bacon was cooked exactly how I like it, egg yolks runny (whites firm) and the rosti was delicately crispy. Chose not to have a hot drink today, instead asked for water and given a large bottle for my table. The meal took no more than 10 minutes from time of ordering to being plated in front of me. Nice that the breakfast lasts to 2pm, as some of us can work unusual hours. Glad to see so many vegetarian options and they can cater to most dietaries. Plenty of mouth watering sweet treats such as muffins, cookies and a super range of slices that really - I'm going to need to work my way through. My photos don't do them justice. Staff were fabulous, very helpful and friendly but also efficient serving the volume of customers. No doubt much of 8 Nicholson Street skyscraper come here at some stage for sustenance. Note: Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly. Good public transport access. There is outdoor seating which no doubt is lovely on warmer days - perhaps a little noisy with...
Read moreFood variety of options during lunch - from hot food to sandwiches, and even a sushi bar. Staff here are friendly service is great. Excuse the picture of the lamb kebab, there was lettuce where the hole in my picture was, but it fell out. Food wise, could be better in this instance. Lamb kebab had minimal lamb in it, mostly lettuce all the way through with only a little bit of lamb towards the end of the kebab. The lamb pieces tastes like they were dried up too. Could be made more evenly with lamb pieces going along the whole kebab and not taste like wrap and lettuce. The salad also tasted not that fresh, like it has been sitting...
Read moreEvery time I stay up late and accidentally play until the morning, I come to this place for breakfast.
The scenery along the way is always beautiful, especially in autumn. The shop is really quiet, and you can just sit inside, enjoy your bagel, and watch the sunrise.
The bagels are really big, super tasty, and packed with fillings.
This place holds all the good memories of my six months in Melbourne. I’m leaving next month, but when I come back to live here again in February, I’ll...
