Look no question this place is solid - but from a pro baristas point of view this is what I’d say:

I had two coffee today one in the morning and one in the arvo - two different baristas…. First was a 6.5 out of 10…. Second was an 8…. I hate lack of consistency at coffee shops - I hate a coffee shop being ā€œamazingā€ because of one or two great baristas but if you go on a Tuesday morning or Thursday afternoon and get ā€œmaxā€ then you’re in trouble…. A brand this well know in Melbourne coffee should be min 8/10 Every time!

This is not the case here….. Sure there’s a good chance you’ll get a decent coffee - but there’s also a chance you’ll get an average one…. There are plenty of places in Melbourne where you can get an amazing coffee EVERY time.

And the other thing I have MASSIVE objection to….. I had a single origin the second coffee and was charged $12.50 just for that!!?? That’s straight up crazy!! $5 for a normal coffee - $12 for a specialty coffee that every other place in Melbourne is charging $5 for!?!

SO…. If you’re happy with house blends and a 2/3’s chance of getting a acceptable coffee, come here….. if you’re a bit more particular and only want the best every time - look elsewhere - especially if you don’t want their house blend - because you will pay $12!!?? Does anyone else think that is ludicrous for a...

We were in Melbourne for the weekend, walking the streets we found this coffee and wanted to try. We had a group of four adults, two kids, and one baby. We waited in the line and saw other customers going in and being treated nicely. When the hostess saw us, she immediately said, "Let's see what's going on here," with a sad/sorry face. It wasn't a hello or good morning or how can I help you. We felt she didn't want to accommodate, and we were right. She said all our big tables have just been taken. It will take 40 min, I am sorry. We felt discriminated against either because we have kids or because we are from another country. We left disappointed. It is hard to feel discriminated. We don't live in Melbourne, we wouldn't go back to this place anyway, but it was a really...

One of staffs served me was so rude and looked annoyed somehow. I really don't understand why he was so upset when I was just indecisive and couldn't decide either of espresso or batch brew. Totally no idea why he had to say something like "I'm showing you options you can choose, 5 single origins espresso or 2 batch brews. I'm not you, I can't decide it. Here's options all you can choose!!!" and forced me to choose one quickly. It wasn't happening like for 5 mins. Just shorter than 2 mins. And the batch (BEKELE CEMEDA) was rubbish. What an empty coffee. No flavour, no aroma. After was disappearing immediately. I don't believe this is CODE BLACK so I'll pick another shop up for the next time. I never want to see him with such a rubbish...

The baristas and staff are really passionate about coffee and knowledgeable too. We were given excellent recommendations on what drinks we should try and what beans to buy based on our preferences. There’s limited seating capacity but the aesthetic of the place is quite modern and edgy. I tried a latte made from chiroso beans. A little pricey ($10) but the taste was amazing and definitely worth every dollar. It had flavours of strawberries and cream and such a pleasant aroma. My friend got a latte from their house blend which also tasted great. Location is also very convenient. Just a stones throw away from the southern cross station.

BEST FLAT WHITE IN MELBOURNE was had here. As a traveler from Auckland and a picky coffee drinker, I found this place to deliver really good flatwhites. The ratio of the double shot flat white was perfect to the amount of milk. The aromas of the coffee beans were perfectly extracted and the milk was perfectly steamed and was smooth. The staff were friendly and explained the menu very well to us. However we did find the service quite slow, so if you are in a rush it may not be a good idea. Atmosphere had a dark modern hidden away kind of vibe, which was pleasant to be in. Will recommend!!
