Me and partner came in to watch the second half of the football on Saturday night. We asked for the 4 seat table so we could watch the football side by side and eat cause the smaller tables 1 spot wouldn’t face the TV. They wanted us to take a small table in case 4 people came, I said let us know if we need to move, which the lady seemed to be grumpy about. Then as our meal came out the lady Asked us to move in a fairly grumpy manor, I said can we tilt the middle tables so we can both see the tv she said no, fair enough, then I said please find us a solution so we can both watch tv and eat, to this point she just gave attitude and said you can just leave etc, in the end I had to ask another table if we could join them which we did. Customer service is all about solutions and this lady spoke poorly, used aggressive body language and wouldn’t even assist in finding a resolution which left us with a bad experience.

The food was nice good portion and excellent setting the other staff were friendly and accommodating. Idea: maybe get 2 tvs for this big area that way rather 50% can view it more like 80-90% can view. 4 stars everything else -2 for this incident as that’s what...

Worst experience at a hospitality venue. We arrived late after a work seminar and an intoxicated off-duty female staff member drinking and eating meals with her friends was eating at our reserved table and rudely stated 'Your 20 minutes late' left the table and didn't bother cleaning it. Same off-duty staff member was serving our meals - not friendly, dumping plates on the table and aggressive if asked who the meals were for. She had it in for me because I said I wasn't there to do her job and find out who the meals were for. She stated herself that she was off duty and was helping her friend behind the bar. Increasingly aggressive towards me, removed my plate as soon as I had finished whilst and then went to tell her friends happily - they were all laughing, I rang to complain to the owner the next day left my number - the off-duty staff member answered the phone - very difficult to get past a wall of staff helping each other, I was told by the bar tender they already knew about the incident. Called the owner again who said he couldn't talk - it was too busy, took my number again and didn't call back hence this review....

July 2023

Dr Morse Bar is a great place to visit.

I've been going there for some time, and it doesn't disappoint.

With an exciting range of tap beers, think English Ales, you could easily be transported to an English pub.

On my last visit, I had roast beef, and this was one of the top restaurant roasts I've ever had. This was so good. I am almost salivating thinking about it now, haha.

My partner had a mushroom risotto, which had some good flavour, and it was tasty.

But my roast was pretty special. That and a pint of Ohara's Irish Craft Beer, and I was set.

Happy days! I will definitely be back again and again.

Amazing bar. Think wood panels, old school, English pub style. The beers are excellent, and the food is absolutely delicious.

The service from the waiter was fantastic. He was extremely attentive and friendly.

For reference, this is my first ever negative google review. The greyest and most sinewy steak I have ever had the displeasure to be served. Partner had vege lasagne with chunks of eggplant as big as two thumbs in it. I am not a fussy eater but this was truly awful and we left poorer and very hungry. Service was incredibly dismissive and we waited 15 minutes for our cutlery to arrive - it never came. When we went to search it out ourselves there wasn’t even an apology from our waitress. Alzheimers or just extremely low care factor? Our first meal in Melbourne and such a disappointing way to kick it off. Never again…

Dined here recently with some friends - we had tried to book The Sherlock Holmes downstairs but it was fully booked for trivia, but managed to get a table upstairs (which was also surprisingly busy for a Tuesday night). The Steak and Guinness Pie alone is worth the visit - one of the best pies we've all had in a long time. It is generously filled with lots of flavour, and served with a good side helping of crispy chips and tasty, thick gravy. Good drinks selection too including a number of British ales and cider. Will definitely revisit again in the not too distant future.
