The restaurant located in King Street, Melbourne CBD between Lonsdale street and Little Lonsdale just right under the residential apartment. The place was pretty spacious and flexible. At that time, we went with 9 of us and it would take couple of minutes to set up a table for us.
Cosy spot to hang out with friends or have a drink after work on weekdays or weekend as they open till late. The customer staff working on that day was really friendly, nice and attentive though he was working alone and the place was quite busy. I reckoned additional staff to help him out would be great, he did a great job though.
We ordered: half & half Korean Crispy Fried Chicken (Original Crispy, Sweet Chilli) for $32.00. We loved the original crispy fried chicken compared to sweet chilli. The original one was serve crispy and warm, it was also very tender and juicy inside. It was well seasoned as well. On the other hand, the sweet chilli sauce one was too sweet and strong taste drizzled with too much sauce. Thus, the fried chickens weren't crispy anymore when they were served. It would be much better if they put less sweet chili sauce.
Korean Army Stew for $32.00. The Budae Jjigae was generously served in a typical Korean stew style big pot on top of portable stove. By default the soup base was slightly spicy, therefore for those who are less tolerant in having spicy food, you'd be better not to drink the soup directly in one go or else you'll get chocked. Anyway, the Korean Army Stew had spam, sausages, instant noodles, beef and spring onions. It wasn't the best that we've ever tried but still the overall taste of soup base was slightly above the average.
Jap Chae (stir fried sweet potato noodle with beef & veggie) for $18.00. The potato noodle was well cooked served generously with beef and veggie. Normally, I'd prefer to have the noodle by itself; unfortunately, it was too sweet; Therefore we ordered additional white rice to balance the sweet taste, other than that it was a great dish.
La Gal Bi (Beef spare ribs with home made soy sauce) for $22.00. Beef spare ribs were cooked and seasoned perfectly. The beef was very tender and you wouldn't struggle to eat that. It was recommended to order this dish.
Overall, due to the cosy restaurant, great customer service and not bad food we still had a good time. You would spend approximately between $15.00 - $20.00 but you'll be guarantee to have "Happy Tummy".

Read moreBeing an avid admirer of the Korean cuisine I've visited this restaurant for dinner before the lockdown. I like the fried chicken and tteokbokki there, but only when I dine-in. Whenever I order something from here, regardless of the platform I'm ordering from, the food is always cold. Since I started delivering for Uber in this lockdown, I'm not surprised why I it was cold.
I had the utter misfortune of picking up food from here yesterday. Their receptionist is the most terrible restaurant staff I've ever met. He greets you with the largest frowning face you would have ever seen. He asked me and the other drivers to wait for 5 mins, which we agreed to. 7 mins passed, the chef gave receptionist all the food to pack. All this while, the receptionist was continuously chatting on the phone, eating from cooking utensils with his bare hands. He made no effort to respect our time.
When I asked him the status of my order after 7mins, he yells at me saying he'll give me the food when its ready, and asked us to get out and wait outside(where it was raining). It could be flattering if you're the person on the other side of the text messages but it's terrible for you if you're a customer expecting warm food or a delivery driver who just want their time to be respected. This man, ironically only used his watch to check for messages.
I would give this 0 stars if I could, but sadly that's not possible. The receptionist is an ignorant, ungrateful, and disrespectful brat who seems to be getting paid for texting and eating with bare hands from cooking utensils. If getting greeted by a huge frown from a disrespectful brat and having to wait for hours for warm food until the receptionist decides to stop texting is the kind of restaurant you want to order from, then this restaurant is for you....

Upon entering, the ambiance is inviting, with a lively atmosphere and friendly staff ready to assist. Opting for a classic combination, I ordered the fried chicken, kimchi stew, and beer.
The fried chicken arrived hot and crispy, with a satisfying crunch in every bite. While it lacked the depth of flavor found in some traditional recipes, it was still a satisfying dish overall. The kimchi stew, on the other hand, delivered a hearty warmth that was comforting on a chilly evening. The kimchi provided a tangy contrast to the rich broth, creating a well-balanced flavor profile.
The beer selection offered a variety of options to complement the meal, with both local and imported brews available. While the beer was enjoyable, it didn't stand out as exceptional compared to other establishments.
Overall, Gangnam Pocha offers a pleasant dining experience with decent food and service. While it may not be the most memorable Korean dining experience in Melbourne, it provides a solid option for those craving a taste of Seoul's...
