I want to start my review by saying I have many fond memories of coming to this restaurant, having some drinks and food late at night and gossiping with the staff which is why with a heavy heart I must write this poor 2 star review. I have come back to this restaurant twice in 2 weeks, one without and one with a booking. The first time I came with a friend who had also come with me In the past and we just wanted to relive the good times we had there, sadly when we walked in we were greeted by an angry staff member who showed no warmth that you would expect from Japanese restaurant, we then asked to sit at the bar so we could have some tappers and drinks and not take up tables for their other customers. The staff member looked confused and annoyed at this request and when we ordered our drinks and food there was also no enthusiasm or warmth that one would expect. Needless to say as we were both unhappy and felt unwanted we left. This leads me to my next experience to which I had a booking with 2 friends. This time the greeter was slightly more friendly and they took our orders however it all fell apart when my friend who orded a green tea beer did not get his beer after mine and my other friends drinks had arrived with the food we ordered. When we asked the staff she sounded rude and frustrated and said "it's coming" so we waited. I had finished my drink and his had not arrived so I ordered another beer and funny enough mine then came and his didn't so once again and more forced I asked where his was and showed our tab then FINALLY it came. All and all I have lost alot of respect for the gyoza gyoza chain after these experience and I don't think I'll be able to relive my fun nights out in cbd ending up there eating, drinking and joking with staff. I hope they fix their attitude if they are going to run a Japanese style restaurant because if they understood the culture they would know service any warmth is very important even under pressure. Sorry for my long review if you have read this far but I am just disappointed . Edit: I see they have responded with a copy and paste ...
Read moreI’ve been going to gyoza gyoza for years , to this location and the Doncaster one and it used to be my favourite restaurant. But unfortunately, tonight I’ve decided not to come back . I came here tonight with a group of friends to celebrate my birthday , the service was horrible. Our waitress , not sure her name but she had bangs and a hair clip, was so so rude . She did not say a word to us the whole time we were there and was giving us so many dirty looks for no reason. It made all of us uncomfortable and honestly shocked. We would say thank you when she would give us a dish and she would just look at us with a rude stare . Maybe she was having a bad day , maybe she hates her job but either way it was obvious we where there for a birthday which almost made it worse as it’s supposed to be an enjoyable occasion and having good service makes it so much better .. we all where very uncomfortable. The dumplings where burnt , our sizzling pork came out barely warm and not even close to sizzling and our drinks where filled with so much ice we couldn’t even drink out of them 🤦♀️Me and my friends are very easygoing and don’t complain so when we do you know it’s bad . this just was the last straw for me . Birthday dinner ruined by poor service and barely decent food . It used to be so enjoyable coming to gyoza gyoza with delicious food good prices and generous portions , but they’ve upped the price lowered the portions and the quality of not only the food but the customer service . Very disappointed and very sad to say it’ll be my last time at any...
Read moreMy sister and I visited Gyoza Gyoza on Friday night for a pre-theatre meal, and while the beef dumplings were very good, we were left feeling disappointed overall. First, the cleanliness of the restaurant bathrooms was quite appalling (rubbish in bags everywhere, tissues to dry your hands), which was quite off-putting. We ordered two small dishes, thinking 50 minutes would be more than enough time from ordering to paying, especially since we’ve been to similar restaurants before and usually find them to be relatively prompt. However, we only received one of our two dishes, and there seemed to be confusion around our order. We were advised by a waiter after ordering via the iPad that one dish we ordered (the beef dumplings) was unavailable, but it was later delivered to our table, after we had already ordered a replacement. This led to us having to cancel the second dish. Communication from the waitstaff was unclear, and the whole experience felt rushed and disorganised.
To top it off, we never received our fried rice. I reminded the staff over half an hour after ordering, letting them know we needed to leave shortly, and was told it would take more than 10 minutes to prepare, suggesting it had likely been forgotten altogether. Thankfully, we were able to cancel the rice and weren’t charged for it, but we left having only eaten five dumplings each as our entire dinner.
Overall, it wasn’t the smooth, quick dining experience we were hoping for. I...
