I recently met up with my friends for a day out in the city, and we decided to visit one of the most popular Thai hangout spots in Melbourne — Hideaway Melbourne, located inside Queen Victoria Market.
The first time I discovered this place was purely by chance, just a few days after it had opened. Even then, I could already feel the owner’s strong passion and dedication to what he was creating. We had a lovely chat, and later I found out that the owner, Pete, is actually a well-known Thai singer! Since then, I’ve kept coming back whenever I can — not only because of the delicious food, but also because of all staff hospitality and friendly personality.
The menu is unique and thoughtfully crafted. They serve two main styles of food — brunch dishes with a Western touch infused with Thai flavors, and pasta dishes featuring creative Thai-inspired sauces like larb, green curry, and tom yum. It’s a refreshing twist you won’t find anywhere else in the area. In addition to great food and drinks, the café often extends its hours into the evening during summer. And if you’re lucky, you might even catch Pete performing live music himself! Highly recommended for anyone looking for a cozy spot with amazing food, friendly vibes, and a true taste of Thai hospitality right in the heart...

Calling all foodies! I'm here to give you the lowdown on an awesome and inventive restaurant I discovered in the heart of Melbourne. This spot perfectly blends Thai flavors with classic brunch and pasta dishes! They've got a diverse menu, and I was completely hooked by the dish in the first photo: ‘Beef Rump with Laab Sauce’! The beef rump (a leaner cut) was perfectly grilled and incredibly tender, paired with a spicy, flavorful laab sauce that just worked so well with the pasta.
Another dish I tried was the ‘Egg Benedict & Smoked Salmon’, elevated by a rich Hollandaise Tomyam sauce that made it so creamy and enjoyable! They have several other Thai-inspired pasta dishes that I'll definitely be back to try!
