This has potential. The food is good. But the price is insane. Our $12 vegetable ‘platter’. Had one piece of capsicum 3cm long. 1 thin slice of pumpkin. Two slices of onion. 1 Japanese mushroom, 2 okra. There’s no preparation other than cutting and the size and quantity was tiny. No cooking. No seasoning. Just cutting. For $12. That’s just one example.
Extra spring onions cost 50c. It’s like they’re trying to squeeze every last dollar, that you forgot that customer service exists.
Plus 10% weekend surcharge on top of already expensive prices.
We arrived at 5:45. Shop opens at 5:30. So one of the first tables I assume. We didn’t see meat until 6:15. With only an hour and 30 of time, that’s too long to wait. At least give us one thing to start cooking and eating. (We did get vegetables but who wants that first. We didn’t order it first.)
I say it has potential because if it was 20% cheaper or had no weekend surcharge or brought food quicker, or all of the above it could be 5 stars. But it’s the equivalent of paying $55 for a pub Parma that takes 30 min to arrive. No matter how good the Parma, at $55 or 30 min wait, it can never justify 5 stars. There’s plenty of all you can eat Japanese grills for cheaper and equally as high quality,...

I'll start with this. When the waitress served the Yuzu plum cold soba, she spilled a significant amount of sauce onto my lap, enough to soak through my pants. She didn’t acknowledge it or say a word, just walked off like it never happened. She definitely would’ve noticed, as some of it must have gone on her hands with how much she spilled.
The meat quality was decent. Being a JBBQ place, most cuts are either salted or marinated with miso or tare. We ordered the following for BBQ: Karubi: 5/5 Marinated Karubi: 3.5/5 (quite chewy due to silver skin left on) Flank Wagyu MB8–9: 4/5 Pork Belly (Chilli Miso): 5/5 Chicken Giblet: 2/5 (good giblet texture, but the marinade didn’t suit it) Corn: 1/5 (sooo dry and old looking)
We were also asked if we had a booking, even though the restaurant was empty and stayed that way, with maybe two other patrons the entire time we were there. It felt a...

The service was great, the space has about 30 or so tables and was pretty busy but we weren’t left waiting at all. They have a paper menu or a QR code with plenty of food and drink options including snack, meal and bbq options.
We chose a selections of classics including BBQ Flank Wagyu, Shisyamo (sardine stuffed) and the Veggie Platter Cooked over charcoal at the table and then Agedashi Tofu, Crispy Chicken Skin, Takoyaki.
I has a couple super cold Orions on tap, delicious! And my friend had a peach rice wine soda, tasty 🍑🍻🤤
