Mazar Green House has a truly beautiful setting that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a traditional Afghan restaurant back in Afghanistan. The décor and vibe are authentic and welcoming, and for a moment you really feel transported.
Unfortunately, the service is where this restaurant consistently disappoints. Each time we’ve visited, the waitstaff seemed untrained, overwhelmed, and unsure of how to handle customers. On our most recent visit, we waited nearly 40 minutes just to have someone take our order. When the waitress finally came, she looked frustrated, made strange faces, and even told us she “couldn’t focus because it was too crowded” which is surprising given the restaurant is clearly designed to host large groups (some tables seat 20 people).
Once the food started coming, it was brought out dish by dish sometimes 10 minutes apart. With a group of 15 people, this meant some of us finished eating before the last meal even arrived. Items we specifically ordered like bread, drinks, and appetizers were either forgotten or brought much later than they should have been.
We’ve been to Mazar Green House about five times as a family, and every time we left saying we would never return because of the poor customer service. The only thing that kept drawing us back was their qabuli, which is delicious when enjoyed on its own. But after so many bad experiences, even the taste of the qabuli no longer makes up for the stress and disappointment.
Sadly, we won’t be returning. Until the owners focus on hiring and training the right staff, the dining experience at Mazar Green House will continue to fall short of what could be an incredible...
Read moreI recently dined at mazar, and unfortunately, I cannot recommend it at all. From the moment we walked in, we were met with an aura of neglect. The host seemed completely disinterested and took forever to seat us, despite several empty tables around.
Once seated, we waited an eternity for someone to take our order. I get it, places can be busy, but the restaurant was far from full, and we could see staff chatting in the corner instead of attending to their tables. After finally placing our order, we waited over 30 minutes just for our drinks to arrive, and when they finally did, one of the drinks was incorrect!
Our appetizers took so long that we almost considered leaving, but we were too hungry to do so. When they finally arrived, they were lukewarm and lacked any flavor. By the time our main courses came out, we were already frustrated and ready to leave. To make matters worse, our server seemed rushed and inattentive, never checking in on us to see if we needed anything or if we were enjoying our meal.
To top off this terrible experience, we waited another 20 minutes for the check after finishing our food, and when it finally came, there were errors on it. I had to wait even longer for the correct bill.
Overall, the weak service ruined what could have been a pleasant dining experience. It’s clear that [Restaurant Name] has serious issues with their staff...
Read morei don’t usually leave reviews, but i feel like i have to say something after what happened a few days ago. i came alone and ordered a kebab, and while the meat seemed fine, the salad that came with it was honestly concerning. the moment i ate some, i could’ve sworn it tasted like dirt, like something foreign had gotten mixed in. i even bit into something hard and crunchy that definitely shouldn’t have been there, and it nearly made me throw up.
because of my social anxiety, i was honestly too afraid to ask for help or request a refund while i was there. i just quietly left and went home, feeling disappointed and unsettled. but unfortunately, it didn’t end there and i woke up this morning incredibly sick. it’s clear to me i’ve gotten food poisoning from that meal, and i’m still feeling awful.
i don’t write this out of spite, but out of genuine disappointment. i trusted this place, and it’s really upsetting that something as basic as a salad wasn’t prepared with more care. no one should have to go through this after what’s meant to be a simple...
