I don’t usually write reviews, but my first experience with this restaurant left me very upset about the unjust way the owner charged us. I went there with my friends, and we looked at the menu to place our order. However, we weren’t satisfied with the prices and decided to leave. The owner stopped us as we were leaving and asked why we were going. He encouraged us to order something, and we finally agreed on a meal that cost around $60, which was within our budget as students.
When I went to pay, I was shocked to find out that the total was $160! My friend had tried to clarify the price with the owner who forced us to stop to place an order at the decided cost, but he insisted that it was the correct charge based on what we ordered. Ultimately, we ended up paying him, but he tricked us and unfairly treated us.
I pray that he faces consequences for what he did. This isn’t acceptable to treat someone with dishonesty for the greed of money. How will you stand on the judgment day because you never know when death is approaching earn with honesty so you can stand with no fear and ashamed on the...
Read moreWe were in Dandenong checking out cars and decided to try this restaurant as I’ve been curious about Persian food. At first we were unsure if it was inappropriate to rock up for lunch at a middle eastern restaurant in the middle of Ramadan, but we asked the staff if they were still serving and they said yes and made us welcome. I had the Ashak dumplings and a shirazi salad, and my husband had a plate of mixed kebabs that came with bread and a side salad. Serving sizes were extremely generous (and priced fairly given that) - it’s not often my husband can’t finish his plate! The extra spices that came in the pot of tea were a lovely touch too. Everything was delicious and left me in a happy food coma for several hours. We were the only customers so it’s hard to comment on atmosphere and normal service but the place looked clean and well presented and I’m sure would have been very vibrant that night after sundown. A...
Read moreI recently visited "Shahkar Restaurant & Cafe", hoping for a great Afghan dining experience, but unfortunately, it didn't meet my expectations. The ambiance was quite underwhelming—dim lighting and an outdated decor that didn’t create a welcoming atmosphere.
When it came to the food, I was disappointed. The kebabs were dry and lacked the authentic flavors I was looking forward to. The rice, which should be a staple of Afghan cuisine, was bland and seemed overcooked. The portions were also smaller than what I expected for the price.
Service was another issue. The staff seemed disorganized and inattentive. We had to wait far too long for our orders, and when the food finally arrived, it wasn’t hot.
Overall, Shahkar Restaurant & Cafe didn't live up to the positive reviews I had heard. I was hoping for a rich and flavorful meal, but left feeling let down. There are definitely better options in dandenong for...
