McDonald's Melbourne Airport T4 — Restaurant in Melbourne

This McDonald store is on the security side of the departure hall of the domestic terminal with lots of other close by food options. Not going to comment on the food as you already know what you can get and EXACTLY what it will taste like. That's the one great thing about McDonalds being consistency. The store is in the corner area and is always busy. The biggest issue is finding a vacant table at peak time to sit and eat. Plenty of public free 240v power points about the area for those needing to charge their phones tables and lap tops. The coffee is pretty good and I can say this McDonalds store is an absolute production line. At 5.00 in the morning it was packed but only 2-3 minutes wait if that including coffee collect Several self serve kiosks to order and pay or you can order at the counter. The coffee is good with fully automated steamers and the barristas pump out the coffee quick. They use the LabMilk brands of milk for the different coffees. Prices are standard McDonald prices everywhere as opposed to the other nearby food places that try to rape your wallet. This store is clean, quick, professional and very popular given its location...

Ordered on SS machine. No line, very few people waiting for order. While waiting for orders you can see right down the back and watch what the staff are doing. While I waited all the young staff stood around talking to eachother not paying attention to what the order says and one girl stood with our order waiting for another order to come through so she could open a bag. She did not move from her spot once. The manager came out, ignored all the staff that stood around talking, packed our chips into the bag and handed it over to us did everyone else’s job for them. The chips had been sitting under the heater since before I ordered and the bag of food sat out of the heater for a good few minutes waiting for rest of order in which the girl waiting for another order to come through could have easily done with some initiative. I had to return to the store twice because they messed up the order twice due to standing around...

Whilst McDonald's aren't exactly known as "fantastic food", what I can say is that diners who frequent the American chain do find over time that if you do not compare McDonalds to other restaurants but instead view McDonalds through the lens of stores compared against each other, you begin to notice that each is subject to both fantastic consistent service otherwise you have issues stemming from non cohesive staff or poor service, etc..

What I can say about McDonalds at the Melbourne Airport T4 is that this team is on point and ready to start processing orders and turning around meals as soon as the first customers arrive (I was there at 4.45 ahead of a 6am flight). I found their service adequate and the overall vibe of the team to be one that perfectly exhumed having the situation under control! Exactly what you want from a fast food establishment!
