Old Man Pho Southbank - Vietnamese Restaurant — Restaurant in Melbourne

I ordered a combo. Where I was asked to made decision on the spot. That in itself wasn’t a problem. But rushing me was. Could give me even a few moment to think without interrupting me. When asked which Banh mi I wanted I was charged an extra $3 with without a mention till I had to pay. The difference between the cheapest and most expensive one is no more than $2 so I don’t get it. Again money wasn’t the issue it was the transparency and hidden cost factor. I’m quite a regular for Vietnamese dining so I know what I should be getting as complementary. Pho came out with no serve of beanshoot or basil or lemon to season. That is standard go to any pho shop. No warm tea was served and is a standard in any Vietnamese shop. After a long drive to the city and then a big day doing activities with our 3 kids a good meal for dinner was next on the list and after looking around for some deliciousness we came across Old Man Pho, and was so excited it give it ago. With a name like Old Man Pho and multiple other establishments in docklands and watergardens you would expect a certain level of quality and flavour BUT NO very disappointing experience. Totally overrated. I tried the SPICY BEEF NOODLE which is advertised as one of their specialities. Everything about this dish is wrong. The meat is taken from the raw beef pho (wrong texture), the noodle is from the vermicelli salad (wrong size), the broth is so bland (wrong taste) and also not hot enough. All the people say the dishes here are authentic apparently haven't tried the real vietnamese dishes. Although all the staffs are vietnamese, you can't find a single vietnamese customer here which can tell lots of things.
