Review of Infinire Wasabi

Infinire Wasabi is a small Japanese eatery specializing in sushi, ramen, udon, and rice dishes with fish or meat. While the food quality was impressive, the overall experience had a few mixed aspects.

Reservation & First Impressions

We initially tried to book a table via Google, and the system showed the next available slot only after 2–3 hours, making it seem like the place was fully booked. However, when we arrived, the café was relatively empty, which was quite misleading. We almost decided not to go because of this, so it’s worth checking in person if you face the same issue.

What We Ordered & Food Quality

Everything we tried tasted very fresh—both the fish and vegetables. The menu offers a good variety of Japanese comfort food, and here’s our take on the dishes we had: • Chirashi Don – Unlike traditional versions with a wider variety of fish, this bowl included only three types of fish (three pieces each), without fish roe. However, it came with edamame in sauce, seaweed salad, pickled ginger, and greens. While some may expect more variety, all three fish were exceptionally fresh, and having fewer types wasn’t necessarily a downside. • Shoyu Udon – Served with thick noodles, different kinds of seaweed, soft tofu, and enoki mushrooms, which aren’t always included in udon but were a great addition. It also came with one tempura shrimp and several large tempura vegetables. The shrimp was fantastic, though we wished there were at least two, as the vegetables weren’t particularly flavorful. The noodles were slightly overcooked, softer than expected—they are usually chewier in traditional udon. Additionally, the usual dipping sauce for tempura was missing, which would have elevated the dish. • Spicy Chicken Gyoza – These came beautifully presented, topped with crispy elements and paired with a spicy sauce. The dumplings were tender, juicy, and full of flavor, making them one of the standout dishes. • Miso Soup – Rich and well-balanced, not too watery, with a good depth of flavor. • Kombucha & Drinks – The menu listed several kombucha flavors, but only one (peach) was available, and a few other drinks were also out of stock. During our visit, the café ran out of ice, so some drinks had to be served without it.

Service & Atmosphere • Fast Service – The staff was attentive, friendly, and efficient. There were enough waiters, and food arrived quickly. • Great Customer Care – They even accommodated a special request from our child for drawing paper, which was a thoughtful touch. • Interior & Cleanliness – The design is minimalist, close to traditional Japanese simplicity, similar to Ramen Café. However, dust was visible on decorative wooden wall elements. • Storage Display – There was a glass display fridge outside the café, meant to showcase food, but it looked mostly empty, with only a couple of sushi pieces inside, which didn’t make it inviting. • Open Storage – Supplies like napkins, plastic bags, and bottles were stored in a visible cabinet, which made the space feel less polished. • Kitchen Smoke – If sitting inside, the air can feel slightly smoky from the kitchen, which may be uncomfortable for sensitive guests.

Considering how far we were from Japan, the food quality was impressive, especially the freshness of ingredients. Some improvements in the interior and small service details could make the experience even better. Would recommend this place for fresh Japanese food, just be mindful of the misleading reservation system and occasional...

I've been a patron of Infinite Wasabi for over a year now, visiting at least two or three times a month, and tell you what, the food here never disappoints! During a weekday around lunchtime, there's always a queue outside for their takeaway options. Despite the crowd, I've always found a spot inside this quaint venue.

Infinite Wasabi may be small, but it's packed with charm. The seating is intimate, so it's best to avoid discussing sensitive business deals or having super private conversations (consider yourself warned!). The staff here are relatively friendly and always in "go go go" mode. They won't rush you to order or leave, but the food arrives quickly, and empty plates are cleared away just as quickly—hint, hint :)

Overall, I'll keep coming back to Infinite Wasabi and exploring their varied menu. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fantastic Japanese meal...

Hidden away at Melbourne’s South Bank, lies a small japanese restaurant that packs such big flavors in their meals!

Tried their spicy ramen in a cold winter night, and it just warmed my body. It’s very fulfilling and each elements of the ramen just pairs so well with each other. Their agedashi tofu was also a good thing to try! Very soft yet very powerful in flavors. The takoyaki was crispy on the outside and very soft in the inside. The dragon prawn sushi was really nice, but I’d prefer it better if there was no cheese inside the roll.

The only thing that this place needs to improve on is their dessert. I had the black sesame ice cream and while they give a large amounts of ice cream, the texture was a bit off. Very ice-y and not creamy. The flavor was just ok as well.

This place is close to being perfect, I’d urge you all to give this place a go if you’re...
