My wife and I are fans of their beer so we were really excited to visit and weren't disappointed but also weren't blown away. I wouldn't call this a brewery as the don't appear to do any brewing on-site. There are no tanks, fermenters, or other breeding equipment on display, which I found a little disappointing. You have a variety of seating options; you can walk inside and sit at the high tables, book or try your luck in the sit down restaurant, or sit outside. The place is modern, gorgeous, and just generally appealing. We sat by the kitchen and watched the food come out. The food is very good but the menu is a little narrow, at least if you're ordering from the bar, not sure about the sit-down area. We started with two pints and then ordered 2 schooners... only they were the same size and the bar staff didn't explain they don't offer pints. Anyway, the selection of beer on tap is fantastic, and that's what we really came for. We loved their 6% cola, IPA, and West Coast Pilsner. If you'll go you'll probably enjoy it, are unlikely to be disappointed, but unlikely to be blown away. We'll be back just because the beer is good, they're open Monday-Wednesday, and it's close to our work. Writing this review has made me feel like a fussy old man because honestly the place is great. I think the main problem is I'm comparing it to my...

Recently had lunch - the food was generally tasty. The big “however” is the portion sizes versus the cost. Completely out of sync - a medium sized single sausage without anything else on the plate for $18?? Asado Short rib (very small portion) and small side of commercial fries for $32 - wow!! Flat bread (petite) & small, small dip for $16 - again wow!! Also need more vegetable options. Asked for all food to arrive together (4 people sharing food) - instead it came out at 3 different times! Wait time for the food was also way too long. Love the space & general vibe but unlikely to return for a meal unless significant improvements are made. Need to be aware of what else is available in South Melbourne (so many great options) & carefully consider the value proposition of your offerings. So many other eateries in the area offering similar (or better) quality food for...

Porterhouse steak arrived “blue” max 1 minute searing on each side. I have never complained about any meal ( just vote with your feet) but this time I was really looking forward to a steak. I apologised profusely and asked the waitress to please have the same steak cooked a little longer. She was very polite and took the steak away, returning 10 minutes later with the steak, set it down and hoped that “this is better.” I thanked her, looked at the steak as did my fellow diners. We all noticed it looked the same. I put my finger on the steak and it was stone cold. It had clearly not been anywhere near the grill. Chef arrogance at its best! Overall very disappointing. There are far too many options to put up with this. Edit* The restaurant was very responsive to my concerns and did their best to rectify my...

Pirate Life, is a casual, restaurant/bar inside a renovated warehouse. The food menu is extensive and there are all types of Pirate Life beers to taste. The beer is not brewed here, but in their brewery in South Australia. There is also a good number of wines to choose from, and the ‘Heathcote Shiraz’ did not disappoint. If you like a Sunday Roast, this is the place for it. You have a choice of Roast Pork, Beef or Cauliflower. It comes with all the trimmings as well as a Yorkshire Pudding(very nice) We had the Beef, which was amazing, my only ‘beef’ would be the slices of beef were too thick for my liking. We plan to return soon and try the pork. For a casual place, the service was excellent, our waitress was attentive, friendly and helpful - thank you

Food - Great. We went on a Sunday, so we had to choose the roasts that the lively kitchen was dishing up. They did not disappoint whatsoever! So much flavor, I wish I could have kept eating more. Drinks - Great mix of interesting flavors. Don't shy away from the alcoholic sodas. They go down so nicely! Service - Wasn't too bad. It seemed the servers got a bit mixed up at the end, but we got it sorted. It was a bit tough finding out about weekend fees or card fees after calculating it ourselves (can't tell which it was given the receipt was wrong to start). Then, once we paid, it was kind of a "k thanks, bye" Also, I know we were early, but even the whole time we ate and left, there were two waiters for each person? It felt a bit overkill.
